Conservation or Cruelty?

I watched the start of Ross Kemp's new series entitled 'Tiger King'. There has been a 50% rise in the number of people keeping dangerous wild animals in the UK. The owners Ross visited clearly loved their animals and felt they were safer where they were rather than living in run down zoos or being poached or killed in the wild. One man had very cramped conditions for 2 lions he had in his back garden and I thought he looked upon these lovely animals more as a status symbol. Their neighbours are less enamored of the set-ups, mostly worried about the animals getting out. What do other GN's think. Is it a form of conservation or is it cruelty?

Status symbols I’d say, how was any of it conservation? If like some zoos who breed and have a possibility of reintroducing the young to the wild is a different story but in peoples back gardens no it’s a joke they just keep them because they can. The excuse they use is they are saving them, from what I don’t know, an even worse existence possibly.

Self indulgent and not acceptable under any circumstances.

Definitely cruelty.
