'Viewpoint' on ITV and Noel Clarke

Anyone watching this? ITV face pressure to axe the last episode tonight because of the sexual harassment claims around the lead actor Noel Clarke.
So should they go ahead and show the last episode? After all, viewers have committed their time to watching the series, and the other actors should be considered too. Or should they axe it because it's not appropriate? He hasn't been charged, so is this trial by media?
My view is the former, to consider the viewers and other actors and not jump the gun as no charges have yet been made.

3nanny really ? And you know all this how?

maddyone Fri 30-Apr-21 23:02:18

Well I’ve seen tonight that he says he’s going to get help, so that sounds like an admittance to me.

Grannycool52 : I do not have access to ITV Hub either. My DD
said she will record it for me so I can watch it at her house.
Do you have access to anyone that could record it for you.?

That “indeed” was in reponse to Jaxjacky.

Delila Fri 30-Apr-21 22:50:41

Indeed!

Have you read the collection of his own tweets. His loathing of women is there in his own words.

Grannycool52 Fri 30-Apr-21 22:48:38

I don't have access to ITV Hub. Please can someone tell us who dunnit?

Only the other night I watched Noel Clarke receive the Bafta
and felt pleased for him to get that award after about 24 years in the acting business. He also said a few words about this has been a long time coming but he was elated with the award.

I haver been watching him in many things for years and he wrote and directed some epic drama for T.V whilst also starring in that as well. No one will remember the dramas such as Kidulthood also Adulthood and then Brotherhood.
It was about younger teens and those getting to about 18 and depicted a true look to how life was happening for the youth at the time and he became an up and coming new writer/actor for that , all that was about 18 years ago and from then on he got more and more work. Most of you will remember him in the police drama as well called Top Boy with his long time acting friend Ashley Walters.
Sadly I saw a clip of Ashley Walters saying, "If Noel has done this then my thoughts are with those women" so he is already turning against a friend through hearsay and rumour.
So after a long and successful career why have 20 women
come out of the woodwork now? why not over the years after all he has been around for a long time has it taken these women to strike now. Like someone else said upthread it's because he got the Bafta and is doing too well for a blackman.
Personally I hope he fights his case and gets a good lawyer/barrister and isn't it innocent until proven guilty?
I also saw questions upthread saying the drama should have been taken off and how would anyone like it if there 16 year old child had been in his film industry.
Lets be clear he has not been accused of being a paedophile
or of grooming young women so lets not add to the accusations already circulating.
This mans life could be left in tatters after all his hard work I
hope it is investigated with true transparency and the full truth comes out.

Well!

Kamiso Fri 30-Apr-21 21:37:07

Might be repeating others but it’s on ITV2. Until Sunday 9 pm.
Started at 8.49

Delila Fri 30-Apr-21 21:21:49

Running a bit late, but thanks Jaxjacky.

MerylStreep Fri 30-Apr-21 20:11:09

Suziewoozie
I was wondering the same thing. It’s just another channel you have on your tv, and if you choose, you can pay to see without adds.

suziewoozie Fri 30-Apr-21 20:05:36

I hardly think having access to ITV Hub qualifies as being privileged ?

Jaxjacky Fri 30-Apr-21 20:03:41

Delila 9pm on hub.

MerylStreep Fri 30-Apr-21 20:01:19

Wind your neck in easybee The world and his wife can read/see the article in the Daily Mail today.

maddyone Fri 30-Apr-21 19:52:29

Oh thanks for explanation Galaxy. I don’t know a lot about this case as have been out all day and the case only seemed to break last night. I don’t do Twitter either so wouldn’t know from there. It’s rather disgusting to refer to his wife in that way. I’m surprised she puts up with it, I wouldn’t.

Galaxy Fri 30-Apr-21 19:37:39

Maddy that's what he called her on Twitter.

maddyone Fri 30-Apr-21 19:32:37

Why so often on Gransnet, are allegations of harassment automatically disbelieved?

Allegations of harassment can be neither believed or disbelieved. They have to be shown to be true or untrue in a court of law. Not in the court of popular opinion!

Lovetopaint037 Fri 30-Apr-21 19:32:23

Ridiculous. It is just one episode and if people are going to be offended then don’t watch it. Agree this is trial by media.

JaneJudge Fri 30-Apr-21 19:21:47

sad that's horrible

eazybee Fri 30-Apr-21 19:21:04

That is the height of hypocrisy: removing an episode from mainstream television because of the actions (apparently) of its principal. yet making it available for privileged viewers via the Hub.
And MerylStreep, is that the sort of thing you look at on Twitter?

MerylStreep Fri 30-Apr-21 18:41:36

He’s now going to seek professional help and educate himself.
Have some of you who disbelieve what’s happened seen the videos of him behaving in a way that wouldn’t look out of place at a very raunchy hen night.
Have you seen the photo he took of a couple having sex at the same hotel he was staying at.
He posted it on Twitter.

maddyone Fri 30-Apr-21 18:12:22

Galaxy

He calls his wife vagina at home.

How on earth do you know that?

gillgran Fri 30-Apr-21 18:02:43

Oh dear, I have watched the past 4 evenings & was looking forward to the final one tonight. Thinking how it was better to see it in 5 days, rather than over 5 weeks.

I'm not very in tune with recognising actors (faces or names).

I was thinking that the character this man played was being led astray by the lady host..!!
I must be dim......

JaneJudge Fri 30-Apr-21 17:54:58

Ilovecheese

Why so often on Gransnet, are allegations of harassment automatically disbelieved?

I haven't disbelieved it at all. I just want to watch the final episode

Actually I do understand why there has been a movement to get it taken off air, that's fine. I'll get over it
