'Viewpoint' on ITV and Noel Clarke

Anyone watching this? ITV face pressure to axe the last episode tonight because of the sexual harassment claims around the lead actor Noel Clarke.
So should they go ahead and show the last episode? After all, viewers have committed their time to watching the series, and the other actors should be considered too. Or should they axe it because it's not appropriate? He hasn't been charged, so is this trial by media?
My view is the former, to consider the viewers and other actors and not jump the gun as no charges have yet been made.

Why so often on Gransnet, are allegations of harassment automatically disbelieved?

If we used the same rules for everything that is shown on TV then surely Prince Philip's funeral should have been taken off the air because Prince Andrew attended and he has been accused of alleged sex offences. What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

ninathenana you can download ITV hub to Android phone, PC and iPad as well as smart tv.

Can't get ITVhub?

Something similar happened to an actor in an Agatha Christie drama; it was re- filmed with a replacement actor, then after it was shown the actor was completely exonerated.

I watched a couple of the episodes of 'Viewpoint' and found it boring, but very annoying for it to be cancelled if you are following it, or even appearing in it.
Too many unsubstantiated allegations are given too much credence; investigate before you pronounce judgement.

This seems to be the latest update

‘Viewpoint will be available on The Hub until Sunday night. It will not be available to watch on any ITV platform after that time.’

Delila Fri 30-Apr-21 16:59:06

Oh thanks Suziewoozie.

Delila

I haven’t heard that the final episode will be on the itv hub, does anyone know if this is for tonight only? It’s not on there yet? I’m hoping to watch it.

There’s an ITV press release which says it’ll be on the Hub tonight for a limited period of time ( which was unspecified).

Delila Fri 30-Apr-21 16:57:18

I’ve never see him in anything else, but think he is quite a charismatic actor in this drama. Very disappointing to hear these accusations.

mokryna Fri 30-Apr-21 16:53:32

I was asking myself whether I should watch the last episode this morning, even though he had not been prove guilty. It has been taken out of my hands now.

Never heard of him.

suziewoozie Fri 30-Apr-21 16:38:12

I shall be watching it on the Hub if only to prove to myself that I never guess correctly who dun it ?

JaneJudge Fri 30-Apr-21 16:36:36

Obviously he should be interviewed and charged if necessary and stand trial etc

JaneJudge Fri 30-Apr-21 16:35:35

oh FFS why cant they show the last episode, it's hardly as if he playing HIMSELF
arrrgghhhhh

I am trying to think if anyone comes back from these accusations. Didn't the guy who played ken Barlow have a similar problem?

Well, he is still in Coronation Street, so yes, he must have come back.

Jaxjacky Fri 30-Apr-21 16:32:15

Thank you suziewoozie.

This is trial by media....surely he is innocent until proven guilty?

We’ve been discussing that point upthread.

Bum, we won’t know who done it.

It’s on ITV Hub tonight.

^The Daily Mail do like to exaggerate things like this.^

I thought it was in The Guardian first?
www.theguardian.com/culture/2021/apr/29/actor-noel-clarke-accused-of-groping-harassment-and-bullying-by-20-women

The DM was a bit slow there.

Yes, you are right. I read about this chap in the Guardian this morning but didn't notice that people were calling for the programme to be taken off.

I am disapointed because I have recorded the first four episodes to watch the drama at a future date, but don't know if I will have time now before the last episode is taken off the hub.

I don't blame the women automatically though, I do tend to believe them, especially with so many accusations.

But yes, it must be hard if it is a friend.

MerylStreep Fri 30-Apr-21 16:15:11

This is so odd. We have been watching the mini series
‘Viewpoint’
I’d never seen Noel Clarke before but right from the start I said to OH ^there’s something about him I don’t like’
He knows I’m very rarely wrong in spotting ‘them’ ?

Nannatwiglet Fri 30-Apr-21 16:13:08

And does nothing for the women involved. We need to look at the culture that seems to be allowed to exist in some workplaces, it's too late after the event.
