I watched this film in my daughter's yesterday as she has the Disney channel. I was disappointed and could not understand how it won so many Oscars.
Personally I think that it would have been better as a documentary although I have always admired the work of Frances Mcdormand.
I think that Hillybilly Elegy was the better film and that Glenn Close should have had an Oscar.
I can see similarities in both films in that they depict what it is like to be poor in present day America, but as I said, I prefer Hillbilly.
I did comment to my daughter afterwards that I was so glad that I had not paid to watch it in a cinema, as I would have been disappointed

I know what you mean. Rather bleak and documentary style but cracking performance from Frances McDormand. Her film really.

I thought it was awful. Depressing. Just what we don't need at the moment.

I enjoyed a peek into that lifestyle.

To me it was informative but not entertaining . Frances McDormand was terrific. Oscar for her performance, but not the film.

Just watched it on dvd and enjoyed it. Think I would have enjoyed it at the cinema, too, but I can see that it wouldn’t be some peoples cup of tea. I liked Nebraska, too (which I must watch again). Perhaps. I just like seeing films showing the non show bizzy parts of America.

It was the first film we saw at the cinema post lockdown.

It is superbly cast and the acting is outstanding.

Bloody miserable though!

I was completely drawn in and found the life style of the Nomads compelling to watch.
A band of almost forgotten people in a mostly wilderness setting.

I kept thinking " when is something going to happen ?" I only enjoyed the bit where she visits her sister for a few days ie in a normal way of life. I loved Frances Mc Dormand and would recommend seeing Three Billboards Outside .... Cant remember the Town's name !

I love Frances McDormand. She is a cracking actress in any role she plays. Nomadland to me was like a cross between a film and a documentary. I can see it wouldn't be to everyone's taste.
Grammy666 The town is Ebbing, Missouri.
