I enjoyed the first 2 series, even though one of the characters is a bit annoying. Series 3 starts tomorrow. It’s set in Canada even though it is supposed to be the US.

Give it a whirl.

'Offspring' is keeping me viewing. That family!! I really like the main character Nina. She does daft things and regrets it in a very human way.

Ginny42 Fri 23-Jul-21 09:14:38

I was disappointed with Series 3 and skipped through some episodes. That may just be me as I have very little patience with some things! I have a long list of stuff in 'continue watching' on Netflix!

I'm looking for recommendations though! I gave up on the Kominsky Method - too much about male prostate problems and going into the gents for me.

Definitely cheesy, twee and improbable but I watched when I couldn’t sleep…..

GagaJo Fri 23-Jul-21 08:59:27

I've watched all the first 2 series although it is a bit cloying and cheesy. Not sure if it's the writing or the acting. The 'will they/won't they' romance thing is so formulaic. Not sure I'll bother with series 3.

I liked it, I liked it very much. I'm waiting for new episodes.

Oh dear. I'm saving this series to watch as I recuperate after next week. It was going too cheesy last time. Och the scenery might make up for it. It'll be nice and cooling to watch if it's still as hot next week.

Just started watching this and the doctor's wife is a busybody.

merlotgran Mon 19-Jul-21 15:24:04

I have to say I'm not enjoying this series as much as the first two. It's gone from a bit cheesy to downright soppy.

Hope might be an annoying character but I wish she'd come back and give them all a good shake!

was lie with me good shysal?

Thanks for all the recommendations on netflix, there is so much choice it is often overwhelming! I'm currently binging the kominsky method and really enjoying it.

merlotgran Sun 11-Jul-21 13:04:10

Watched the first one last night. Oh, the scenery.?

NanKate Sat 10-Jul-21 14:01:11

Yes Sal got the wrong channel too, I’m losing it ?

On Netflix

I can highly recommend One Chance. The story of Paul Potts. The opera singer who won Britain’s Got Talent , With James Corden in the lead with Julie Walters as his Mum. A wonderful story ,

Kate,I have just checked Channel 4 for Monday and couldn't see a new series. Did you mean 5, which has Lie With Me, a 4 nighter with Charlie Brooks? I had already set it to record. I prefer short dramas rather than those with many seasons.

NanKate Sat 10-Jul-21 07:41:23

That’s the beauty of Netflix, Amazon etc you don’t have to sign up with a contract Shysal. Enjoy.

NanKate Sat 10-Jul-21 07:39:33

It’s the Doctor’s wife Merlot. Snap ? I watched the last episode of series 2 last night just to get me up to speed.

I’ve just seen that there will be a 4 night series on Ch 4 starting Monday which is between a glossy soap and mystery. Of course between reading it’s title and walking upstairs I have totally forgotten the name, but I will give it a whirl.

Visgir1 Fri 09-Jul-21 15:51:59

Great news it's back loved it.
But the best is still Heartland for me.
Give that a go too

Ginny42 Fri 09-Jul-21 14:26:22

How about Lupin anyone? I loved every minute of it and I think the end of Series 3 left it open for another series.

shysal Fri 09-Jul-21 09:58:18

Thanks for the heads-up Kate, I will sign up to Netflix again to watch it as I enjoyed the first 2 series.

henetha Fri 09-Jul-21 09:45:15

I love this even though it's not usually my sort of thing.
And yes, one of the characters is annoying,. But there is something about the other actors, the setting, the storyline, that somehow is compelling. It's like a nice hot cup of tea, sort of comforting.

Aveline Fri 09-Jul-21 09:26:50

Glad it's not just me that finds the doctor's wife irritating!

Ginny42 Fri 09-Jul-21 06:43:13

Oh yes, isn't the Dr's wife annoying? The characters are fairly typical of a community though.

I've watched all 60 episodes of Bolivar and couldn't believe I knew so little about what happened in South America. And yes I checked out the historical detail. It's not for the faint hearted however.

Hence why I enjoy some lighter viewing. I liked Heartland during one lockdown as they were the only family I could have in my home!!

I'm going to check out your recommendations if they're still available.

NanKate Fri 09-Jul-21 06:27:41

Doodle you are right she is Annette O’Tootle nothing to do with Peter O’Toole my mistake.

Esspee Thu 08-Jul-21 23:56:34

Ginny42. Have you watched The Spy? It’s an Israeli mini series which we’ve just finished. It’s based on a true story set in the 1960s.

Esspee Thu 08-Jul-21 23:49:56

Lucca

Rake isn’t cheesy !?

No it’s hilariously funny. I was suggesting it as a follow on from Offspring which I loved.
