I just heard yesterdays episode on bbc sounds and i was getting really annoyed.
I know its not real life but the Alice story line is really irritating me.
Fallon interfering, Alice like a spoilt brat. Chris getting all worked up. I hope Alice does leave and Chris says good riddence to her and Fallon keeps her big nose out of other peoples affairs. Get back to Tracy and Gazzer and everybody else. The Alice alcoholic story is dragging on now imho.
Sorry if this upsets anybody.

I like Jim and Jazzer what a mismatched pair but such good friends.

LullyDully Tue 10-Aug-21 08:29:54

PS ditch the script writers who don't know the Archers inhabitants as well as we do.

( Also bring back Nigel, Walter and Gabriel, wings and all.)

Friendship is one of the things Archers does well, especially the unlikely ones, I liked the scene between Eddie and Brian the other day, although I am sure Brian wouldnt allow himself to think of Eddie as a friend.

Mouseybrown60, you asked if we had a favourite character. I tried to think of one, but found I don't really like any of them!

Galaxy - I agree with you that TA does friendships much better than romances. I also agree with LullyDully about the SWs.

I feel about most of the characters the way I feel about most people in my village - most are likeable, some are not, all are a mix!
The only ones I could see me being friendly with are Kirstie (I forgive her inability to read men!) & Jolene. I have warmed to Emma over the years - I think she got a bad start, being Susan's daughter, but lately her father's character is more in evidence. I also have a lot of sympathy with Ed.
I was very fond of Nic, and her death is one of the twice that TA has made me cry.
I also liked Amy and was sad she got written out - yes, I know she's 'sort of' back, but in a situation that can only end in disaster I'm afraid.
I have never much liked any of the actual Archers except possibly Dan.

Poor Ruari and poor Jennifer. What would you do about Alice now?

Rosycheeks Wed 11-Aug-21 09:36:50

I like Lillian and Linda when they are together.
Dont know what they are going to do about Alice but I hope they do it soon!

I think she’s hit rock bottom - essential for alcoholics to decide to change. We’ll see! I thought last night’s episode was pretty good. The storyline about alcoholics ruining many family occasions or what should be happy times (e.g. exam results) rang very true. Her apology didn’t though - never got that from my ‘problem’ relative. Generally because they can’t remember being obnoxious.

Delila Wed 11-Aug-21 12:38:25

Dare I say it? I like Susan...

Nannarose Wed 11-Aug-21 14:04:08

Oh Delila, please explain!

I am sorry for Susan, who had (by TA standards) a difficult start, and I did understand the choice she made to protect her brother, which caused so many problems for her family. I respect her support for her family, and I would also hate to have Jennifer & Brian as in-laws.
But I cannot actually LIKE her!

Delila Fri 13-Aug-21 23:11:02

I suppose it’s because she’s warm & funny & fallible. Quite a well-drawn character - I’ve met people like her.

At last! A truly fun episode. Well done Jackie Weaver?

Chewbacca Sun 15-Aug-21 19:27:22

Poor Neil; pious Shula or gossiping Susan. He sure can pick 'em!

Nannarose Mon 16-Aug-21 11:16:26

Thanks Delilah! I lost the thread on this one! I am quite fascinated as I 'think' I know a few Soosans, and wouldn't consider them warm or funny, but rather awkward to be around.
I think you are a good friend, and able to see the good side in people!

Chewbacca Mon 16-Aug-21 11:22:33

I'm glad to hear that Usha is back, I like her character. But I squirmed when I heard Alan refer to her as "Darling". He sounded so wooden, like it was an alien word that he'd never said in his life before!

Kate54 Mon 16-Aug-21 12:16:02

Jackie Weaver was a stroke of genius - and she was pretty good, unlike some of the mystery guests they’ve had in the past who’ve been very wooden.
Great way to celebrate the return of TA on Sunday evenings. Now what about Friday?!

Oh great. Thanks. Did you really need to do that?

Rosycheeks Mon 16-Aug-21 13:11:22

I thought Tracy was going to put her foot in it but it all went well.

PippaZ Mon 16-Aug-21 13:16:11

Sorry eGJ. I just hadn't wanted to know until I hear the episode. The BBC have put a lovely interview on their Archers FB page.

Chewbacca Mon 16-Aug-21 14:15:39

eGJ My favourite bit of the Jackie Weaver script was when she told the protesters YOU HAVE NO AUTHORITY HERE! NO AUTHORITY AT ALL! By far, the best guest appearance for a long time!

midgey Mon 16-Aug-21 14:43:00

First episode for ages that has made me laugh out loud!

eGJ Mon 16-Aug-21 18:05:47

Thank you pippaz for the link. sorry if I spoilt it for you. I’m sure now you can see why I could not contain my delight in a real proper episode!

PippaZ Mon 16-Aug-21 18:32:29

What a coup. Just right grin

Hello Archers fans. Please can someone tell me the name of the actress who plays Denise? DH is sure he recognises the voice but can't place her. I have tried to Google her but no success.

Silverbridge Sun 05-Sept-21 23:26:30

Radio Times lists the actor as Clare Perkins. Someone of that name has been in EastEnders and Holby City and most recently in Flack and The Crown. Same actor?
