Did anyone see Casualty last night? I thought it was such a daft storyline, by the end I still wasn`t sure about what really happened, and I usually love Casualty.

I prefer Chicargo Med on Amazon Prime but it gets a bit samey, I think the writers run out of ideas and just churn out stuff and because people watch progs out of habit.

I used to love Casualty back in the day when it was more about patients’ diagnoses, but now there always seems to a politically correct topic taking centre stage.

There is the occasional gripping episode but it’s usually pretty obvious what particular drum is being banged within a few minutes of the start of each episode.

Thought it was pretty brutal but the run up to the wedding was ridiculous and unrealistic (I sincerely hope!). Have to say the second train was cleverly filmed and timed.

BlueBelle Sun 08-Aug-21 19:27:52

I rather like Dylan …decisive, clear thinking, professional, but rather vulnerable but I like Ethan too he wears his heart on his sleeve and needs mothering a bit but very sweet and kind the one who disappoints is Jacob he used to be a strong character but now he’s totally buckling under that controlling madam I thought the Welsh paramedic (forgotten her name) acting drunk was really dire

Well that’s you sorted caleo !
Whose the one actor you think is good harrigran ?

Hellogirl1 Sun 08-Aug-21 19:04:19

Personally I wouldn`t want Ethan treating me, he`s too dithery. I`d much prefer Dylan.

Callistemon Sun 08-Aug-21 18:47:45

It's supposed to be about the patients ....

Really sad that Fenisha died. Corny I know but I wanted Ethan to have a happy ending for once.

I jumped so much when the train hit I knocked my coffee all down me! They always have a big finale when cast members want to leave. I have watched it right from the start , it’s the only “soap” I watch.

Felinehappiness Sun 08-Aug-21 17:41:04

I really think Ethan and Fenisha make a beautiful couple,

Franbern Sun 08-Aug-21 12:31:31

Has there EVER been a Casualty wedding that has taken place happily and without incident? I can remember kidnappings, boat fires, majax, secret trysts with previous lovers, etc. etc. If the scriptwriters really wanted an 'original' story, they could just run a happy wedding.

Glad the Lev story has finally reached a conclusion. They drag such stories out far too long. Now that Ethan has got a new medical verdict he can stop being so melodramatic. Will he now become a single parent?

Bodach Sun 08-Aug-21 12:17:21

We gave up watching Casualty many years ago; fed up with its routine portrayal of most members of the Armed Forces or Police as unthinking, brutalised thugs - as compared to the consistently angelic (if occasionally slightly flawed) members of the NHS.

lindiann Sun 08-Aug-21 12:04:44

Maybe Lev's widow (name?) might get together with Ian?

Caleo Sun 08-Aug-21 11:55:21

I am glad Fenisha has been wiped out and I wish Ethan could have gone too.

Lev became more interesting once he summoned up the courage to confess to his father, however his story was dragged out for too many episodes.

Tha autistic doctor used to be interesting with his houseboat and lurcher dog, but he has become insipid like the others.

I thought last night was fairly dire. Is that the end of it?

Well, there are no patients apart from the staff so perhaps the ED is closed?

Let's hope so.
It has run its course.

To be fair, I was only glancing at it from time to time as I was concentrating on a new crochet pattern but did keep commenting "This is ridiculous" or "There's going to be a car crash in a minute" and generally annoying DH.

Lillie Sun 08-Aug-21 10:27:05

whenever there is a wedding there is always a car crash
sad for ethan though

I watch this in France but many weeks after, so it was a real spoiler to read this thread. However I had become tired of the Lev story ,it was never ending and much as I liked Ethan he too had been over played on story lines.
Both casualty and doctors are disappointing ,did the script writers
Stop thinking during lockdown!

Lucca Sun 08-Aug-21 09:48:32

Totally OTT. I guess the actress playing Fenicia must have got a better job. All a very unbelievable plot when they used to have at least some decent storylines. The Welsh paramedic being tipsy was cringeworthy acting. Serves me right for watching so I shall henceforth desist !

ninathenana Sun 08-Aug-21 09:22:56

I was so disappointed there was no happy ending for poor Ethan. He's such a sweet character.
I wonder what will happen now with Dylan and Lev's widow. (Sorry, can't think of her name)

"Wanted, two paramedics for busy ambulance station"

Cabbie21 Sat 07-Aug-21 23:16:26

We had just been saying This is tedious, when the crash happened!
Very sad ending though.

dogsmother Sat 07-Aug-21 22:47:37

Don’t disagree about sad BUT.....
I’ve never jumped so much at a tv show as I did tonight! It’s meant to be a tv drama not a horror show, my popcorn went all over the place!

BlueBelle Sat 07-Aug-21 22:40:39

I thought it was really really sad tonight I really liked Lev and Ethan and Fenisha Really difficult watch although I know it’s not true poor Ethan

gillgran Sat 07-Aug-21 22:29:18

Oh dear, I've got a really bad headache. I just watched tonight's "Casualty", not a happy ending to this series. sad
Why oh why did they dither about so much?
If they had got their act together they could have had a bit of joy.
( I do know it's just a TV programme, my DH has just told me.)..!!

Yes, really agree about Jax. If anyone can fix that miserable shambles of a hospital it would be her. I watch the emerging plot with interest. Believe the show is closing in about a year.

Franbern Thu 29-Jul-21 18:17:13

I have just watched Casualty from my Humax recording. At least, tried to watch it - but gave up half way through - and deleted it. Load of rubbish. No idea what they have done with this programme. I am also watching older ones (from 2012 on Drama. Reminds me why I always loved this and Holby City.
Good to see Jax back in HC now - always one of my favourite characters.

harrigran Thu 29-Jul-21 08:04:51

I thought casualty was absolutely dire, the acting was poor and the storyline was boring. I think I will be ditching it as only one of the actors is actually believable.
