Did anyone see Casualty last night? I thought it was such a daft storyline, by the end I still wasn`t sure about what really happened, and I usually love Casualty.

I watched it, Jacob is being coercively controlled by his girlfriend and they were looking at 'sliding doors' type scenarios. It was confusing but I suppose they may be struggling a bit with Covid restrictions.
I usually enjoy Casualty but not so much lately.

That's how I saw it too, I'm beginning to wish it was Casualty they were binning rather than Holby.

grannyrebel7 Sun 25-Jul-21 21:48:31

I thought it was very cleverly done. Bit of a departure from the usual.

Lucca Sun 25-Jul-21 21:55:45

I thought it was dreadful.

I also think David is a shocking actor.

It’s gone a bit weird has Casualty, it’s long been a guilty pleasure for me but now ….

BlueBelle Sun 25-Jul-21 22:07:38

I thought it was awful absolutely daft So did my daughter she texted me in the middle of it and said what a load of ….. rubbish….. (well not quite that word …but similar)
Absolute tosh

I disliked it too!

Sar53 Mon 26-Jul-21 07:06:47

I thought it one of the worst episodes I've seen. I think with the Covid restrictions on filming that they are struggling a bit.
Hopefully next week's will improve.

Casualty turned into rubbish years ago. As did Holby. Pity as I used to enjoy both programmes.

Infinity2 Mon 26-Jul-21 08:33:30

I stopped watching Casualty years ago.
I think that sometimes things go on far too long instead of coming to an end and making room for something new. The same with all the soaps, great for years, now absolutely ridiculous. It’s as if the three majors take turns and have colluded in recycling plot lines and the hot social topic of the day.

It all went downhill when Emergency Ward Ten ended, and Minnie Cauldwell died in the snug at the Rovers !!

Hellogirl1 Mon 26-Jul-21 12:18:34

I thought it was Martha Longhurst who died in the snug? Sorry if I`m wrong Infinity, I`m not trying to be smug!

Infinity2 Mon 26-Jul-21 14:13:19

Hellogirl1 - I bow to your superior knowledge ? it’s another hot day here and I’m getting my Enas/Minnies and Martha’s mixed up !!
I loved the old Corrie. It was a world I knew well ?

It was perhaps too clever and not clear. DH didn't like it at all but I understood it. It was about answering someone in a way that might provoke confrontation, compared to answering in a different way that allows the other person to remain mostly calm. I have to do this a lot sadly.

BlueBelle Mon 26-Jul-21 20:00:40

I understood it perfectly elaine and have done many role plays on the subject but thought it was very UNentertaining and poorly done perhaps once would have been ok but the whole programme was not good at all

Sorry but it was hardly “too clever” !! Very heavy handed and exceedingly boring . Don’t ask me why I watched it….insomnia

Hellogirl1 Tue 27-Jul-21 16:22:50

I understood the point of it, but by the end wasn`t sure which scenario was actually taking place.

Hellogirl1 Tue 27-Jul-21 16:24:40

PS, I can`t imagine a man like Jacob allowing himself to be controlled like that.

BlueBelle Tue 27-Jul-21 16:40:15

hellogirl indeed ???

Charleygirl5 Tue 27-Jul-21 17:02:15

I am another who did not enjoy it but there is little else to watch.

annodomini Tue 27-Jul-21 20:16:59

I understood what they were trying to do, but thought it was mishandled and, consequently, just boring.

Lucca Tue 27-Jul-21 23:22:26

I just watched Holby….I do think someone should tell Whitney that her boyfriend Kush isn’t dead and is in fact the new clinical lead at Holby City……

tanith Wed 28-Jul-21 07:10:51

So glad Jacks back in Holby ??

harrigran Thu 29-Jul-21 08:04:51

I thought casualty was absolutely dire, the acting was poor and the storyline was boring. I think I will be ditching it as only one of the actors is actually believable.

Franbern Thu 29-Jul-21 18:17:13

I have just watched Casualty from my Humax recording. At least, tried to watch it - but gave up half way through - and deleted it. Load of rubbish. No idea what they have done with this programme. I am also watching older ones (from 2012 on Drama. Reminds me why I always loved this and Holby City.
Good to see Jax back in HC now - always one of my favourite characters.

Kim19 Thu 29-Jul-21 18:25:55

Yes, really agree about Jax. If anyone can fix that miserable shambles of a hospital it would be her. I watch the emerging plot with interest. Believe the show is closing in about a year.
