So, fellow fans, what do we think of the lineup? A very mixed bunch, personally only know of five, I’m sure we will soon have our favourites. Can’t wait for the glitz and glamour to brighten the long dark nights looming?

Calendargirl Sun 03-Oct-21 08:11:49

I voted for Robert, Rhys and John.

MerylStreep Sun 03-Oct-21 08:16:19

Greg wise’s version of Disco dancing looked more like Dad Dancing
If he gets anymore up his own backside he’s going to disappear.

Sara1954 Sun 03-Oct-21 08:22:15

I thought Tilly was fabulous, such a hard dance for week two, well done Tilly

Grandmabatty Sun 03-Oct-21 08:26:57

I thought Tilly was amazing. Somehow I hadn't expected her to be as full of character and as good as she was. Rose is incredible. She is relying on beats to music she can't hear and could throw herself into those lifts too. John is way ahead of the others at the moment. Sara was lovely. Her dance was simple and pure. I'm not keen on Katy and I don't like Robert although he can dance. His partner did most of the hard work though. Dan as a cut price Ben Hur didn't do it for me. Like many of you, I can't take to Greg. He doesn't come across well, does he? And bringing out the sob story always gives me the cringe. It'll be interesting to see who goes.

Casdon Sun 03-Oct-21 08:29:11

I liked AJ, she relaxed into the dance so her body looked natural, which most of the others haven’t yet mastered. I’m sure they will in a couple of weeks though, it looks set to be a good series I think.

yes i voted, 3 votes online so free. Adam Peaty, Dan, and Judy Love.

all so good already hard to see who will stay the course.

Kim19 Sun 03-Oct-21 08:51:11

I didn't vote. Tend not to until further down the line. Have to confess I couldn't single any one couple out as so many were impresive. Very promising indeed for the rest of the series. Not quite sure if what I think about the covid positives returning. Will that same practice apply further down the line when a performance is more crucial?

Sparklefizz Sun 03-Oct-21 08:52:33

So who will be in the dance off tonight?

I thought Judy's dance was awful .... it's not dancing imo to watch someone jiggling their fat backside .... but the judges seemed to like it.

But overall the contestants are pretty good this year.

lemsip Sun 03-Oct-21 09:06:22

Sparklefizz I hope no one posting on here has a 'fat backside'

Josianne Sun 03-Oct-21 09:12:01

I think Judi was having a laugh, at her own expense!

Yes, that struck me as rather rude.

Sara1954 Sun 03-Oct-21 09:37:02

My daughter and granddaughter loved Judy and both voted for her.
I think the public vote will keep her in for a long time.
As for who will go out, no idea, but I hope it’s Greg.

Sparklefizz Sun 03-Oct-21 09:37:39

My own is not the slimmest but I can't imagine anyone wanting to watch me jiggle it and call it dancing.

Sara1954 Sun 03-Oct-21 09:45:19

Sparklefizz
You don’t know, maybe people would love to watch you shaking it all about!

merlotgran Sun 03-Oct-21 09:45:34

I won't be voting for John because I think same sex couples have an unfair advantage.

The female celebs are marked down for breaking dancing rules like the amount of time dancing out of hold, position of head, arms, back etc., while in hold and they also have to dance backwards in high heels!

John and Johannes are very good but their routines are tailored to fit a different criteria.

I voted for Sara, Rose and Tilly.

In which case, just give me the glitter ball now because I can jiggle my flab with the best of them grin

Mollygo Sun 03-Oct-21 10:28:01

Merlotgran-you could be right-there should have been 2 more blokes dancing together to make it fairer, but the Beeb never thought of that.
I’d love to see the men dancing in high heels! Think of Ru Paul’s contestants. They’d manage it.

Sara1954 Sun 03-Oct-21 10:47:30

Sparklefizz
A sight to behold

Hellogirl1 Sun 03-Oct-21 13:51:56

Johannes and Graziano did dance in high heels in a professionals group dance last year, managed OK as well.

merlotgran Sun 03-Oct-21 14:10:19

They weren’t contestants though.

Maybe they should have a female same sex couple competing as well.

Sweetpeasue Sun 03-Oct-21 14:12:10

Sparklefizz you echoed my thoughts about Judy though I think she's got some bottle, as well as an ample derriere! She brought some fun with her jiggling--my husband nearly fell off his chair! I've spent my life trying to hide mine under long shirts and sweaters so I might be persuaded to 'come out' and join you. ?‍♀️LOL
Will be watching to see who goes out tonight but it's usually not the 'worst' dancer is it?

Sparklefizz Sun 03-Oct-21 15:17:58

You're right Sweetpeasue, it's usually not the worst dancer who goes out first ..... and often that dancer stays in for several weeks. Why is that? Is the marking a fix? Are the public really keen to keep someone in who's not much good and cause good dancers to have to go home? It is, after all, supposed to be a dance competition.

DanniRae Sun 03-Oct-21 15:22:37

I really don't think that the marking is a fix Sparklefizz. Why would they do that? What would it achieve?
I can tell from this thread that Greg Wise is not very popular, so it would not surprise me if he goes tonight.

Sweetpeasue Sun 03-Oct-21 15:47:40

It appears to be partly who's popular with the public and their 'followers' and partly true dance ability.
Although I haven't remarked on Greg Wise so far I must admit I find him a bit annoying and a bit of a 'luvvie'. He's also not a great dancer. As far as dancing ability goes IMO I think Judy Greg and Dan(who's a lovely man so hope it's not him who goes tonight) are the weakest.
In the final I like the best dancer to win. Last year it wasn't, but fair enough Bill did amazing from having no previous dancing experience.
