So, fellow fans, what do we think of the lineup? A very mixed bunch, personally only know of five, I’m sure we will soon have our favourites. Can’t wait for the glitz and glamour to brighten the long dark nights looming?

Oh dear, I hate it. All that false enthusiasm, the politics, the rigged voting, the simpering idiots, the sympathy comic entrant. Well I sincerely hope all you enthusiasts enjoy it. I’m off to hide behind sofa with a good book ?????

Same here Bluebellwould! I always feel out of the ‘Strictly Loop’ when I’m with friends between now & Christmas but I don’t like the programme enough to want to join in!

Record and flip through for me too *Maggiemaybe and Whitewavemark2. I always like the introductory dance though. I’m with you eazybee about having a judge and sister on the same programme. Strictly unfair is my view.
I’ve still got to see how Anton did as a judge. Great relief not to have to watch him with another non dancer, though strangely enough my favourite series was Anton with Ann Widdecombe.

The pro dance was fabulous, I think you’re right, I think it was an Argentine Tango, but I’m sure someone will correct us if we’re wrong.

Is the issue over non vaccination likely to derail the show this year?

I'm with Bluebellwould on this, it's all so false.

Ailidh Sun 19-Sept-21 09:16:22

I only knew two of the celebs, then realized I recognized Robert Webb from a TV advert about inserting a memory stick somewhere. Think I'll root for him.

I'm glad Anton is on the judging panel.
I'm a big fan of Craig.
I like Shirley, except when she's salivating over dancers' bums, which I find throughly unpleasant.
I would cheerfully lose Motsi- she just shouts.

The heading for this thread is "Strictly-yay!" so why, oh why, do people feel the need to come on just to say how much they dislike the programme? The truth is we don't care!!"
Please go on threads and comment on subjects that you do like......leave us "Strictly" fans alone to enjoy all the things that you love to look down on............Thank You!!!!!!!!1

Josianne Sun 19-Sept-21 09:27:40

I love Strictly, well the actual dancing part not all the chit chat. I think I know who will be knocked out early on for their stiff expressionless movements, but there could be a few surprises. Can't wait. See all you fans next Saturday!

DanniRae I kind of do agree with your comment in terms of the title of this thread, but I also think that everyone should be allowed to comment and yes, even criticise, certain aspects of Strictly. A lot of the numbers might not be to everyone's taste, but provided the criticism is constructive then that is fair enough. I think a poster saying they "hate" everything about Strictly is a bit daft on such a thread, but hopefully we can all avoid any personal snipes on here during what is destined to be a lengthy thread.

PS I know you were being a bit tongue in cheek with your and that you weren't being horrible!!!!!!

I was wondering the same thing, I’m sure lots of people dislike it, that’s their choice, but we won’t let them spoil our enjoyment.

Sparklefizz Sun 19-Sept-21 10:16:16

I'm a Strictly fan. It's OTT, rather like panto, but it's a good escapist programme and I really do love the dancing.

I often don't know the celebs at the start but then we get to know them over the weeks. There were a couple I didn't like last night from their introductions but maybe that will change. I like Dan Walker's attitude so far as he seems to be humble. At 6ft. 6in. he may struggle.

See all you fans next Sat. smile

eazybee Sun 19-Sept-21 13:32:03

'Yay' means no criticism allowed.
Who knew?
So:
I can take any amount of criticism so long as it is unqualified praise.

dragonfly46 Sun 19-Sept-21 13:38:49

I absolutely love it! It is the one programme we can watch as a family, the costumes are beautiful, the dancers amazing and it has a real feel good factor.
The only downside is that is that is seems to speed on Christmas.

I agree, my eight year old grandson and I have just been to the supermarket, and spent most of the time discussing last nights show, there are very few, if any other programmes which we would both love.

Hellogirl1 Sun 19-Sept-21 14:30:10

I was rather hoping that Oti wouldn`t be partnered with a celeb this year, but I see that she`s there again.
I love Strictly, but was really hoping that there wouldn`t be another same sex pairing this year.

joannapiano Sun 19-Sept-21 14:39:58

I watch it for the wonderful music from the live band.
Dan seemed to have no sense of rhythm ,watching last night’s programme.
I love Johannes and think he is the best dancer. His partner looked really nice, I hope they do well.

Sara1954 Sun 19-Sept-21 14:45:45

I love johannes as well, I think they will be very entertaining.

Sweetpeasue Sun 19-Sept-21 15:58:03

Can't remember the name of the, ahem, rather well-endowed lady but it's going to be interesting to see what she's capable of. Anyone remember Lisa Riley partnered with Robin Windsor? Absolutely amazing.

Dinahmo Sun 19-Sept-21 15:58:32

Sweetpeasue I think that most of the contestants will be known to the younger generations and probably not many of us watch soaps.

Eazybee do you really mean Greg Dyke?

Sweetpeasue Sun 19-Sept-21 16:19:40

Just looked her up its Judy Love.
No I'm not into the soaps these days but just know that Lisa Riley is a curvy lady and danced brilliantly when she was on.

MerylStreep Sun 19-Sept-21 16:27:46

I love Judy Love. Very funny lady ?

gillgran Sun 19-Sept-21 17:02:44

Another "Strictly yay" fan here,
I love it, the music, dancing, the costumes & sparkles, the pro., dancers, & the celebrities, (although I've yet to get to know most of them).

I've been a fan for years, enjoying getting to know the cast of the show each year.
(I still miss Kevin Clifton...("he was my favourite"). smile.

Kittylester, on this thread, page 1, Sat., lunchtime, did you say you are/or/know of, a relative of one of the celebs.,?
or were you asking?!! wink.

Look forward to all your comments over the coming weeks.

Sweetpeasue Sun 19-Sept-21 17:07:04

She was hilarious last night MerylStreep. Hope she does well. Understand she sadly lost her father 6 months ago. I think she will be sure to cheer everyone while on Strictly.
