A new series starts on Tuesday BBC2 at 9pm. Looking forward to it, I found the previous series really interesting. I think David Olusoga makes the programme, it must take a lot of research to find out about all the previous occupants.

Yes travelnan I really love this series and am looking forward to the new programmes with interest.

Me too - the first one was in a place I was quite familiar with,
I think he does ‘make’ the programme - narrates well and meets interesting people, asking sensible questions.

Love this. The house this Series is in Leeds.
The amount of research that goes into the program is amazing.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention travelnan

Thanks for that. Love the programme.

I love this programme too and am looking forward to the new episodes.

He is a historian and writer. I would think he has researchers but leads the research undertaken himself. I enjoyed the series immensely too.

I’ll be watching The Yorkshire Vet.

Oh thanks for the heads up, will certainly watch it, it's one if my favourite programmes. Just love David Olugosa's voice, it's so relaxing.

I love history and I have watched all of David's previous programmes. Fascinating stuff.

Watched this last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought the previous series set in Bristol went off track, but so far this looks like being as good as the first two.

threexnanny I’ve only watched the last series (through the first lockdown) what do you think was off track about it? I really liked it, I will have to see if I can watch the earlier seasons you mentioned on the BBC I player. Something to watch while I sort and iron piles of washing,

Not sure what you mean as it was an identical format to every other house he has done?

Enjoyed it as usual but did I detect a slight dumbing-down? He explained what an oil painting was (in order to convey someone’s wealth i.e. the real thing) which I wouldn’t have thought necessary.

Although I was looking forward to this programme I actually gave up half way through. I was very tired. It's being recorded though so I'll catch up.
I agree about the last series. I found it strangely dull but I don't know quite why.

PinkCosmos Wed 08-Sept-21 09:20:57

Looking forward to this series. I enjoyed the previous series.

However, like Aveline I need to watch it when I am alert and not tired as the presenters soothing voice lulls me off to sleep smile

Got house envy again. What a beautiful house… envy

timetogo2016 Wed 08-Sept-21 11:13:21

Me and Dh watched it last night.
A fantastic programme.

threexnanny Wed 08-Sept-21 17:04:33

With the Bristol series it seemed to me that the story was focused on the history of the city and the house made to fit rather than the house dictating where the story lead.

Aveline Wed 08-Sept-21 17:32:40

That's it threexnanny!

DillytheGardener Thu 09-Sept-21 00:13:27

threexnanny I didn’t notice

DillytheGardener Thu 09-Sept-21 00:16:00

Bother, hit post too quickly, I didn’t notice that, but I’ve never watched that show before that series. I enjoyed it. I found the history of the run away slave I’d I remember rightly really interesting and the history about the milk bar during prohibition. (Hope this is the right show, I tend to middle different shows into one!
