Freda and the implants for Aled. Now she has kidnapped the little chap to stop the operation. She comes over as the most impossibly selfish woman and I have no sympathy for her. One storyline that has disappointed.

Does anybody else always shout at the telly in a rage when you see angry eyes alighting on a beautiful bunch of flowers and you just know that it’s about to be crammed violently into the nearest bin?

What a wicked waste. angry Pass them on to someone who’ll enjoy them, for pity’s sake!

Yes, what a waste of money and flowers. They should pass them on or put them in a vase on Victoria Gardens.

Well done Coronation Street. Watching what Lydia is doing is really disturbing as something similar is happening to our family at the moment. A selfish controlling woman is making horrific false accusations which have to be listened to of course. Although women quite rightly have more control and power these days this also brings responsibility. False allegations even if eventually proved wrong can cause so much upset and distress never mind destroying (usually men's) lives. We have seen it lead to male suicides and I think these issues should be discussed more on TV both as documentaries and in dramas. It is happening more than we probably know and it is disrespectful to those who are genuine victims. If a woman is abused it becomes news but how many times do we hear of the increasing numbers of men who are being much more subtly emotionally abused by women?

Well just when it looked like the pregnancy story we suspected had fizzled out it seems there’s a drama about to unfold ?

Calendargirl Mon 07-Mar-22 07:12:45

I am heartily sick of the Abi storyline. I always thought she was lying about not being pregnant. How come she has never looked to have a bump?

And does no one think it odd how Lydia is always hanging round the street? Surely now she has been sacked, she would not want to keep bumping into Sarah and Adam, if her stupid story was true? And how is it she is always mouthing off to him and there is never anybody else nearby to hear?

Grannynannywanny Mon 07-Mar-22 07:36:19

And how is it she is always mouthing off to him and there is never anybody else nearby to hear?

I was thinking the same last night Calendargirl . Usually when someone is having a quiet private conversation there it can be heard from across the street by a passing neighbour with superhuman hearing.

Oh dear, hardly Call The Midwife, was it?

Thank goodness the ubiquitous Nurse Aggie is now swanning round maternity, after stints in paediatrics, cardiology, A&E, and heaven knows what else. Sticking her nose in her poor son’s life not enough for her.

NotTooOld Tue 08-Mar-22 16:01:27

I was also puzzled by Abi's pregnancy. She told the midwife she last had sex six months ago so surely she would have had a bump? Wasn't this her fourth child - the twins plus Seb? And is giving birth sitting up the way it is done now?

Grannynannywanny Tue 08-Mar-22 16:32:25

Last night my mind was cast back to 1970s as a student nurse. I worked alongside another girl who was 2 or 3 years older than the rest of us and confided in me one day why she’d had a gap between leaving school and starting her training. She had what’s known as a “denied pregnancy” aged 16. She didn’t miss a period, although they were much lighter. She didn’t have a bump, just felt some clothes were slightly tighter. Her mind was in complete denial and she carried on as normal. Her parents came home from work one evening and found her unconscious on the floor and close to death due to a severe haemorrhage in the 8th month of pregnancy. They thought their daughter was dying, had no idea what was wrong with her as they rushed off in the ambulance. A couple of hours later she’d had an emergency c. section and they were grandparents to a little boy. The baby was fine and the mother recovered after a large blood transfusion. Her parents were very supportive once they recovered from the shock and helped look after the little boy so she could resume her plans and start her nursing course.

And after her traumatic birth ordeal, Abi was able to up sticks and go home, more or less straightaway. How did she get there? Did she have money for a taxi?

Then no sooner back home than off to the shops for more booze.

No doubt Nurse Aggie will soon have a reason to go round sticking her nose in, and just happen to spot the red anorak.

And put two and two together…..

You would be amazed at the positions some ladies give birth in. The midwives I worked with used to blame their bad backs on the contortions they had to adopt to help these ladies.

Laura seems to look much better since she moved in with Gary and Maria. Swanning around the flat instead of lying prone on the sofa.

And how will she afford a PI? Surely Gary isn’t paying for a professional one?

NotTooOld Thu 10-Mar-22 17:13:35

Yes, she made a miraculous recovery, didn't she? Looked like she'd been to the hairdressers, too, or perhaps Kelly did it?

Daniel's former girlfriend looked like she'd just come back from the Caribbean, either that or she has been spending a lot of time in tanning shops.

I wish Daisy would stop mumbling.

NotTooOld Thu 10-Mar-22 17:14:53

Or is it Carribean? Carribbean?

Grannynannywanny Thu 10-Mar-22 18:18:50

I did suspect at the beginning that Laura’s terminal illness was fake to get back in Kelly’s life. Then when I saw prescriptions etc discussed I thought it must be genuine. After her apparent improvement last night I’m back to thinking she’s faking it. That entire long running storyline around her missing husband etc is just ridiculous.

Calendargirl Thu 10-Mar-22 19:08:57

It’s ok, NotTooOld, we know where you meant!

I’m not sure either!

lemsip Thu 10-Mar-22 19:45:14

laura's 'missing husband is dead of course, killed by 'Gary'
storyline is ridiculous again.

I love daisy and daniel together........Daniel actor gay in real life.

He is/was, not sure, in a relationship with the actor who plays the vicar in Corrie.

NotTooOld Fri 11-Mar-22 14:37:14

Yes, Daniel's gay. What a waste. Or perhaps I should not say that....... confused

Calendargirl - thank you!

I still don't see how you can give birth sitting up. Surely one would be blocking the exit, as it were? grin

Calendargirl Fri 11-Mar-22 21:01:50

Nice to see Ronnie back.

Curlywhirly Sat 12-Mar-22 10:06:29

I did wonder when they were finally going to address Rick's murder - it's rare in soaps that murderers get away with it. Having said that, I haven't heard that the actor playing Gary is leaving Corrie, so maybe he will get away with it for a while longer. I do wish the script writers would come up with more plausible stories (Gemma and Chesney having quads was just ridiculous; didn't the writers think about how on earth they were going to get 4 infant actors; obviously not, as the toddlers are kept constantly upstairs out of sight!).

Aveline Sat 12-Mar-22 10:24:40

We have seen a couple of the quads and they were lovely wee things.
Many children live 'upstairs' in Coronation Street. I suppose it's lucky we get to see the wee chess fan

Grannynannywanny Sat 12-Mar-22 12:32:40

Have a look at these beautiful quads.

That's lovely Granny

Maybe Gary will get caught. The prison set hasn't been used for a few months.
