Just seen the photos of the red carpet. Duchess of Cambridge outshines the stars in a beautiful gold beaded gown. Very much looking forward to seeing the film on Friday morning.

Kate was absolutely stunning! Easily outshone any of the showbiz stars. As usual she had genuine smiles. She always looks like she's enjoying herself. My goodness William chose well!

I agree, William did choose well. Pity his brother did not do likewise - whoops, sorry, will not mention HnM again. I'm glad someone mentioned Camilla. I thought she also looked very nice but seemed to get hardly a mention in the news items I read. Of course, Kate has all the advantages - youth, beauty, slim figure - but Camilla also dresses well and deserves a mention.

Agreed Katherine looked absolutely beautiful and every inch a Princess. There will be much gnashing of teeth from across the pond I'm sure. ?

This is a lovely thread where people who are interested in such things can share their pleasure at how this lady looked.

But some people can't help get nasty about others, can they?

So, I'll assume all bets are off.

She looked like the Oscar statuette. Was that intentional?

As for William choosing well, did Kate not get a say?

Josianne Thu 30-Sept-21 11:05:14

I think saying the dress made Kate look like the Oscar statuette is in fact a compliment. I'm sure it was intentional as the royal dressers are very good at selecting outfits which shout out the occasion. Just like when the Queen cleverly choooses a particular colour, style or piece of jewellery.
I think Kate is prepared to do the clothes horse bit when the occasion demands, which it is why it is so refreshing to see her in appropriate everyday clothes when she visits a playgroup or a sports club.

I thought it looked like the Hunger games with the four of them stood in a row

William was extremely fortunate to have met Kate. They were both sensible by choosing not to rush into marriage.

If they had chosen not to stand together for that photograph?
the headlines- Camilla didn’t want to be compared with Kate.
They arrived together as a family,

On the back of this thread, I dreamt last night I had been left in sole charge of the Cambridges three children while they were out and I had to hoover the palace, too and there was a hole in the vacuum cleaner bag! ???

May the odds be ever in your favour. smile

(Well they will be if you marry a prince and wear nice frocks.)

Just like when the Queen cleverly chooses a particular colour, style or piece of jewellery.

I remember when she came to the opening of the Scottish Parliament dressed as a thistle.

Thought she looked stunning. She always dresses appropriately for the occasion, as others have said. Don’t like the fussiness of her hair though!

The Queen does look like a thistle smile

I thought they made a great foursome. Catherine looked absolutely stunning and I loved her hair style. Camilla looked fantastic too, no question of any competition between these two ladies, they both looked great as did their spouses. It was good to see them all together, but then I am an unashamed royalist.

Aveline Thu 30-Sept-21 13:38:46

What I like about Catherine is her lovely friendly face. As I said before her smiles seem a genuine reflection of her enjoyment of what must, at times, be pretty dull events.
She's young and like other young women probably relishes the opportunity to get all dressed up for a glamorous event like this premier.

D of C is wearing a gold Jenny Packham dress ( sister of Chris) , I bought a Jenny Packham dress a couple of years ago in a charity shop for £8. Good for that designer.

Good? It’s amazing! smile

DD2 set her heart on a particular early Jenny Packham dress for her wedding day. It took us months to track it down in a dress agency over in Dublin - it fit as if it had been made for her. Even secondhand, the cost made my eyes water! DD2 looked stunning in it though, and it’s still hanging in her wardrobe ten years later. Perhaps it’s her pension fund. grin

Very glamorous from two very different generations.
