And who should have been Bond?
I remember Rupert Everett saying that the role was his ‘birthright’, and that he was robbed of it due to homophobia in the US.
Who do you think would be good?

GNW that’s brilliant grin
I bet that there is an actor called William Hill

Maw I’ve never really seen the point of Bond full stop.

My dad enjoys the books though; he says that the period details are great.

And fabulous theme tunes! ♥️
Favourite theme tune?

Mine are ‘View to a Kill’ and ‘Nobody Does it Better’

MayBeMaw I’ll make my own mind up later today! What did you think of it?

PS. I did see the film!

If you sit through to the end of the credits, it said....
James Bond will return.

FannyCornforth Sun 17-Oct-21 11:09:32

Of course he will. He’s a cash cow

Aidan Turner, of Poldark fame.

henetha Sun 17-Oct-21 11:10:50

I hope he does return.
Aiden Turner Or James Norton. Or Idris Elba.
But, please, not a woman just for the sake of political correctness.

Calendargirl Sun 17-Oct-21 11:14:47

No one will ever better Sean Connery,

He was James Bond.

Marydoll Sun 17-Oct-21 11:30:35

I agree, not a woman!

Callistemon Sun 17-Oct-21 12:12:13

Grandmagrim

Tom Hardy or joe lycett

Joe Lycett - just brilliant!! ???

Most of the ones mentioned above are far too old for all that cavorting around.
Perhaps Rupert Everett for M?

No one will ever better Sean Connery probably, at the time, until Pierce Brosnan.

My dad enjoys the books though; he says that the period details are great.
How I wish we'd kept them instead of passing them on!

I have no suggestions to make and I probably won't go to watch it anyway.

This is the actor William Hill!

FannyCornforth Sun 17-Oct-21 12:33:30

Hill was in Gran Torino, Boardwalk Empire and House of Cards.

Callistemon Sun 17-Oct-21 12:46:55

Too old! Much too old.
And American.

No, he has not passed the audition.

FannyCornforth Sun 17-Oct-21 12:47:43

He could play his grandad maybe…

Callistemon Sun 17-Oct-21 12:56:24

Nicholas Hoult has grown up .....

If Idris Elba was Bond I'd watch it. Which would be a first. Not a fan of James Bond really.

Casdon Sun 17-Oct-21 13:52:28

Surely given his current ubiquity it must be Bradley Walsh!

Callistemon Sun 17-Oct-21 14:42:48

grin
Well, that would be different!

I do remember going to watch Peter Sellers as one of the Bonds and David Niven as the retired Sir James Bond in the spoof Casino Royale

Boz Sun 17-Oct-21 14:47:59

Dan Stevens

That's a good thought!
They need to be on the younger side as Daniel Craig did 15 years as bond.
I did read in the last week or so, the lovely Idris Elba has apparently ruled himself out of the role.

Rosalyn69 Sun 17-Oct-21 16:42:34

Idris Elba without a doubt. So cool.

muse Sun 17-Oct-21 17:13:05

Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hardy, Andrew Garfield or Dan Stevens.
I wouldn't say no to Idris Elba though.

Jack Whitehall?

Idris Elba is 49, in 15 years time he'll be 64.

Too old for all that shenanigans! ?

Idris Elba without a doubt,
