Who should be The Next Bond? ?

And who should have been Bond?
I remember Rupert Everett saying that the role was his ‘birthright’, and that he was robbed of it due to homophobia in the US.
Who do you think would be good?

Casdon Sun 17-Oct-21 17:28:21

I’ve just had another thought, how about the very gorgeous Theo James?

TerriBull Sun 17-Oct-21 18:14:21

The actor who was the lead in Bridgerton (Netflix) Rege Jean Page has been mooted, I think he'd do very well, right sort of age and very good looking.

Idris Elba without a doubt,

Too old!

He's got what it takes for the time being, I agree.
But a 64 year old still OHMSS?
No, he'd have a desk job well before then

I still think Nicolas Hoult has potential, we must move past that haircut when he was 12.

Aiden Turner aka Poldark.

Callistemon, did you ever see "About A Boy", poor Nicholas Hoult, that was some haircut they saddled him with, I should know my mum set about mine with the scissors aged 7 or 8 and I ended up with hair cut like that, I've still got the school photo to prove it shock Anyway...........moving on, can see he's changed since then, well come to that so have I!

Anyway I'm sticking with Rege Jean, smooth, urbane and good looking what more can we ask?

rafichagran Sun 17-Oct-21 19:41:05

Idea Elba for me too.

rafichagran Sun 17-Oct-21 19:41:42

Idris not idea.

Callistemon Sun 17-Oct-21 20:04:08

Terribull DD has never forgiven me for her haircuts when she was very young.
Very much 'About a Boy' but she was a girl.
I pioneered that haircut years before that film. ?

Zoejory Sun 17-Oct-21 20:06:30

If Idris is too old, I'll go with Terribull's choice. Regé-Jean Page. Perfect smile

Oldwoman70 Sun 17-Oct-21 20:09:59

Anyone else think the decision has already been made and the studio is encouraging all this speculation for publicity? I have no idea who will or should take over - I think Daniel Craig will be a hard act to follow.

Callistemon Sun 17-Oct-21 20:10:21

Never heard of him

(Hides head in shame)

Galaxy Sun 17-Oct-21 20:26:37

Yep I had that haircut too, my dad bought a hair clipper which at the time was revolutionary, his skills were not so up to date.

If Idris Elba was Bond I'd watch it. Which would be a first. Not a fan of James Bond really.

OMG, me too. He is stunning.

(Off to get a cool glass of water.)

Jaxjacky Sun 17-Oct-21 20:36:46

Casdon just been to see the film, Theo James is a good shout ?

Goodynanny Sun 17-Oct-21 22:37:53

How about Matt Smith?

JackyB Mon 18-Oct-21 08:56:57

Taron Egerton did a jolly good job in Kingsmen. He had the cheekiness of Roger Moore and can also do the suave, and probably the ruthlessness. Now a bit more mature, he can probably also tackle the depth of feeling that Daniel Craig brought to the table. Also he's young enough to take the job on for the next few years. I may be overthinking the question.

Idris Elba has definitely said he won't be doing it, but, I suppose, in that world, you should never say never!

PinkCosmos Mon 18-Oct-21 09:10:41

James Norton

Kandinsky Mon 18-Oct-21 09:21:41

Idris Elba is too old and not universally good looking enough for the masses.

I hope they pick a complete unknown.

Greyduster Mon 18-Oct-21 09:30:54

If there has to be another Bond (Daniel Craig is the hardest act to follow), Rufus Sewell, or Aiden Turner. I like James Norton but he has too soft a look about him for Bond.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 18-Oct-21 11:20:14

James Norton or Tom Hardy. Maybe Tom Hiddleston. Daniel Craig is a tough act to follow. I reckon he was the best Bond out of them all.

Gaggs Mon 18-Oct-21 11:22:17

.Orlando Bloom might be good ….

Quizzer Mon 18-Oct-21 11:24:36

Grandmagrim, Joe Lycett would certainly be a ‘different’ Bond!
My vote goes to James Norton.

VioletSky Mon 18-Oct-21 11:26:14

I would actually watch it if it had Idris Elba in it

Moggycuddler Mon 18-Oct-21 11:28:59

Another vote for Idris Elba. Or Tom Hiddleston.

Casdon Mon 18-Oct-21 11:31:02

I do think Kandinsky needs some new glasses, Idris Elba is definitely ‘universally good looking enough for the masses’ - although sadly too old I agree.
