Haven’t seen any posts about either of these since they aired.

Gave up on TLC after two episodes, have read the book but found it rather dreary, couldn’t remember the outcome and didn’t really care. Matthew Venn is no Jimmy Perez, but Jimmy looks a bit jowly and could do with a shave. I know he has a lot on his plate though, with murders, bereavement and a dad with dementia.

So is Tosh pregnant? I couldn’t see the result on the test properly!!!

What a miserable lot they all are.

Atqui Wed 24-Nov-21 22:25:12

Sorry wrong emoji

Poor Jimmy.?.

I'm not keen on cliffhangers that hang around for a year.

BlueBelle Wed 24-Nov-21 22:00:44

Oh well that’s a bit of a cliff hanger for the next series

Lizzie72 Wed 24-Nov-21 20:32:41

Ooh, no, I like an unshaven man grin

Calendargirl Wed 24-Nov-21 20:27:58

The big question on tonight’s Shetland….. no, not who is the murderer?

Will Jimmy have had a much needed shave?

Lizzie72 Wed 24-Nov-21 18:46:14

The preview for tonight’s (last) episode says “It turns out Donna has one last surprise in store”……….

Atqui Sat 20-Nov-21 18:12:35

I don’t think she was charged with both murders

Atqui Sat 20-Nov-21 18:12:09

I don’t know who killed Sally, but Donna killed Lizzie because she was afraid she would tell her abusive husband about her affair with Duncan.

Calistemon Sat 20-Nov-21 16:37:09

I suppose it's artistic licence, Calendargirl

Some Spaniards are fair and blue eyed ?

Calendargirl Sat 20-Nov-21 15:55:47

But as has been said before, in the Shetland books, Jimmy Perez is dark and Spanish looking, nothing at all like our Dougie.

Just saying.

Naw you see I don’t agree calandergirl the bald patch doesn’t do Duncan any favours I rather like the teddy bear image of Jimmy (why’s he got a French name did that come up in the earlier series I ve obviously not seen ) at least we won’t fight

Perez - it's Spanish.

Apparently a ship of the Spanish Armada was wrecked off Fair Isle, Jimmy's ancestor must have landed there and the rest is history ?

Have to say in this series, Mark Bonnar (Duncan) knocks spots off Douglas Henshall (Jimmy) in a the looks department. A real silver fox, no wonder he’s had so many dalliances.

Jimmy’s unkempt appearance must be a reflection of his troubled personal and professional life.

I think this is the answer...
The evil Donna Killick
Donna Killick (Fiona Bell) is the hidden villainess of the sixth season of BBC's shetland
Donna was the head of an animal sanctuary and the mother of Alan Killick, who worked with her at the sanctuary. Her backstory revealed that her husband Kevin (who died prior to the episode's events) was abusive to her, which led her to have an affair with Duncan Hunter; the father of DI Jimmy Perez's stepdaughter Cassie.

The series began with Thomas Malone being released from prison for the murder of Lizzie Kilmuir, having served a twenty-three year prison sentence after proclaiming his innocence. Soon afterwards, though, journalist Sally McColl (and daughter of Donna's lover, former police officer Drew McColl) was found murdered in a similar fashion to Lizzie: strangled to death and found in a kiln. Sally was Alan's girlfriend, and while Donna initially appeared upset by Sally's death, she was later revealed to have been disapproving of Alan's relationship with her (much to Alan's frustration).

Over the course of Jimmy's investigation, Kevin was believed to be Lizzie's killer after familial DNA of Alan's was found on the scarf used to strangle her. The speculation left Donna irate, especially when Jimmy had her husband's body exhumed to determine if he was the killer. Donna also grew disapproving of Alan spending time with and offering sanctuary work to Cassie, putting her at odds with her son. After uncovering old footage of a beach party Lizzie attended, Jimmy learned about Donna's affair with Duncan and made a shocking realization: Alan was a product of the illicit relationship, thus making him Cassie's half-brother.

Here it is, thanks to Eviebeanz!

Someone explained about the Donna storyline on this or another thread.
I read it three times and sort of got it ? but couldn't explain it again.

Donna and Duncan have a child together, I remember that. Goodness knows why they let her back to where she committed a murder - surely a hospice on the mainland would have been more appropriate.

I thought Donna was an ‘ex’ of Duncan’s - do you think the letter Duncan posted to her solicitor will frame him for something?

Exactly my thoughts. A manipulative murderer out for revenge. Guessing the letter will point the finger at gullible Duncan.

I've watched every series and I honestly am totally lost with this one.
I've still got this latest series recorded so I'll be watching it again next week after episode 6.

BlueBelle Fri 19-Nov-21 16:45:24

Well thanks for the synopsis which I ll have to read again and again I was under the impression I had seen other series of Shetland as I know Jimmy and Duncan and Tosh but maybe I had only seen the last one as that back story didn’t trip out my brain and I m busy trying to work out who all the different names are

Atqui Fri 19-Nov-21 16:28:40

Welshwife I was thinking the same . She’s a nasty piece of work !

Not sure why Duncan is befriending the paroled murderer either ... this won't end well. Ooh, didn’t end well! Did you see last night’s episode?

Can anyone explain why the woman who’s been released from prison killed the girl?

Ooh, glad you asked that - I wanted to know that too! Did we miss the details in an early episode or is it a storyline from a previous series?

The released murderer storyline is a continuation from series 4

I'm not sure what the relevance is yet although the doctor seems to be a suspicious character
