Thanks for the tip! I’m another who thought the book could have done with some judicious pruning so I’d like to see the film.

Read the book when it first came out.....got halfway through and that was it.A good writer who doesn’t know when to stop.
All her books require serious editing.

I watched this and was quite taken with it. I can’t comment on the book. The storyline was a bit of a stretch, but the lead characters were engaging. Nice to see Aneurin Barnard - I think he’s an underrated actor.

I read the book first and loved it, I was dubious about watching the film but as TerriBull says it was true to the book.

I’ll have a look. I’ve tried to read the book 3 times and given up.

I began the book as I'd seen the rave reviews. I didn't get further than about Chapter IV though. Where on earth was it going? Maybe the film will be better....

I loved the book, a lot of people didn't, overly long possibly, it did meander during the second half. I enjoyed the film too thought it was pretty true to the book. However, those who didn't like the book probably won't enjoy the film either.

This film is based on Donna Tartt’s book. DH and I both enjoyed it very much.
