The wine is for his wake!

The young girl who filmed it was so gentle, kind and respectful.
She filmed it in such a clever way that it was Ken you saw, heard and remembered not her. Such a refreshing change from these kinds of shows when the celebrity is front and centre and does all the talking.

All the people he came into contact with were wonderful...Ken's peace and inner joy must rub off on people.

You will enjoy it Kalu. A special mention should be made of the young girl who filmed it. I seem to remember reading in the local press up here when he was hospitalised but, as was his wish, he managed to re-unite with the wilderness. For how long who knows but hopefully it will be his decision - he deserves that respect.

We have this on our watch list for tonight.

I watched this last night. What an amazing man. 40 years in the wilderness with no electricity, gas or running water.
The place he chose to build his cabin is breathtakingly beautiful.
He seemed to be mostly self sufficient even having 70 gallons of wine that he made himself!

Brilliant documentary, he has taken some beautiful photographs and all that diary keeping will make some wonderful reading one day... the consecration of his chosen place was emotional.

Thank you for highlighting this program. I'll catch up on iplayer.

Thank you, I will watch it on iplayer having now looked up how he lives. I live a slightly alternative lifestyle...not nearly as extreme as Ken though...on a narrow boat.

Sounds interesting.
I will watch this.

I watched this on BBC Scotland. It was fascinating. Very brave man who lived his ideal life in his ideal situation. Worth seeing again..

Yes he did. Time seen it advertised so may be repeated soon if it hasn’t already! A lot has happened to the old chap (Ken) since .

Shinamae Fri 12-Nov-21 09:11:08

Did’nt Ben Fogle do a “New lives in the wild” on this chap?

I watched it on iPlayer and thoroughly enjoyed it. Such a gentle man who, after suffering devastating, life changing violence as a young man, has lived his life completely on his terms and loved it. He's seen so many beautiful parts of the world and his photography skills are amazing. A lovely programme indeed.

This amazing programme was only shown on BBC Scotland but it's now on iPlayer. Such an interesting man's story told well and a fascinating look at getting older on your own terms.

Much kindness and gentleness in beautiful countryside. I really recommend it.
