It was very interesting. Olivia Colman was superb. I can really understand now why she's won so many awards. Seeing her as herself on Graham Norton last week really underlined it. She seems to be a very cheery, modest person.

I watched episode 2 last night and I have to say, what a talented actress Olivia Colman is in her portrayal of Susan Edwards. Skeletons are starting to tumble out of the cupboard and I find myself having some understanding as to why her and her husband could commit such an awful crime.

Watched the first episode ( most of it) but thought it was a ridiculous mix that didn’t know what it wanted to be.
Would have been far better to present as a real drama.

We think it's brilliant as well. Excellent drama. I do like the scenes where they go off on a tangent.

The murder was actually in 1998. They got away with it for 15 years.

It was described as a dark comedy which it isn't..its based on actual 2014 murder...I'm watching as do like the 2 lead actors and yes the police do swear..in real life too!

I never read up about a film or program before I watch it, so I an fresh to the subject matter.
I havent read this thread yet but will probably comment later on, just in case someone watches the whole series in one go and gives away some of the story.
I know it's based in a real incident.

I was reading about it in the Times and really want to see it but I haven’t got whatever channel it’s on.

I wouldn't describe it as a comedy as such but more, dark humour. The part where the police are going to apprehend Susan and Christopher Edwards at St. Pancras made me smile. Umpteen officers, mounted police, all the bells and whistles to arrest a very timid couple who had voluntarily given themselves up. It is a true story and if viewers can balance the fact that 2 people were murdered with the humourous side that creeps in from time to time, then it's worth a watch.

Have watched the first episode, I enjoyed it, DH not so much grin

I was going to watch this but I wasn't aware it was a comedy. I don't think I'll bother now. I thought it was a serious drama.

Yes Boz, I was bemused when I read that it was a comedy - and I didn't know the backstory. It's not lol funny - the relationship between the two main characters is poignant - the police officers provide most of the comedy and there IS some swearing which I was surprised about

Boz Tue 07-Dec-21 14:29:32

Isn't it about the Mansfield Murders. Where's the comedy in that?

Aveline Tue 07-Dec-21 14:23:42

What's it about?

I made the mistake of googling this before I watched it, discovered it was a true story and googled some more - wish I hadn't - it became a spoiler. Only half way through episode 1 and can't remember the last time I enjoyed a gently comedy so much
