Hello
I’m not really a ‘feel good’ movie type; in fact I’m not even really a movie type.
However, DH is in desperate need of chivvying / cheering.
I know that I can rely on you… thanks

Your DH may like “Cocoon” , a 1985 film.
Super actors in it e.g. Jessica Tandy, Don Ameche.
It’s difficult to recommend for other people though, isn’t it?

Little Miss Sunshine.

Over and over again???

Oh, ok, thanks Daisy (I take it then that he doesn’t die in the film?)
Airplane is a good shout.
Sachabel I love The Apartment.
Shirley McClaine is just a delight. I love her in everything.
Chesnut I don’t think that either of us have seen The Sting; so that’s a great idea.

FannyCornforth, I would still recommend "The Last Bus" it's not a "sob yer heart out" sad ending but a heartwarming, brings tears to your eyes ending.
If you want laughs you can't beat "Airplane" not PC now but still very funny.

Yesterday.
It will have you singing along.

The Apartment starring Jack Lemon and Shirley MacLaine. Can't remember how many times I've watched this film, but if it is on again over Christmas I will be tuning in for another viewing

Sago

Planes,trains and automobiles

An absolutely hilarious corker of a film Sago!
We watched it for the first time last Christmas, and I’m saving it for a proper Baileys and party food festive feast this year.

We recently watched "The Last Bus" with the brilliant Timothy Spall, he plays an old man who travels from John o Groats to Lands End using his bus pass on public transport, he has lots of "interesting" encounters on the way. I won't give anything away but I can highly recommend it, just have the hankies ready for the end.

We both love Tim Spall; but anything that requires hankies (I can guess at the ending) is an absolute no - no.
As for ‘Goodnight Mr Tom’, I could probably recite it word for word! (it’s a Year 5 / 6 text)
Thank you everyone smile

Footloose? Maybe not everyone's cup of tea but it does get the toes tapping!

Another vote here for The Holiday.

^National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation' will be on at some point. Chevy Chase is just brilliantly funny so DH couldn't fail to laugh at that.

What about The Sting with Paul Newman and Robert Redford? One of the best films ever I think. Your husband will love it, there is no romance just a very clever heist.

Wonderful Life, reminds me of my lovely dad, he looked just like Jimmy. Paddington, love him, The Minions make me feel happy, Dirty Dancing. Mister Tom but it makes me cry.

Chestnut Fri 17-Dec-21 17:24:57

If you have Netflix then try ploughing your way through Virgin River which is gloriously cheesy, romantic and feel good. There are two series I think so plenty to watch there.

Heaven Can Wait is on You Tube and is very enjoyable, romantic and funny and definitely feel good. I love it! Warren Beatty and Julie Christie.
