Love it I never tire of watching it found the portrayal of her husband sadly fairly typical of a lot of men at the time

I watched it and enjoyed it, liked it first time round as well.
We've been to Mykonos and we're going to Kos in August so I enjoyed the scenery as well ?

I'm another who didn't like it. I thought with all the hype it would be great, but it didn't do anything for me.

I loved this film and I went to Ibiza with a female friend and her young son, the first time I had been abroad for 17 years, after my divorce. We asked a barman if we could take our chairs and table onto the beach and drink our wine there, just like Shirley Valentine. It was the end of the season and we were the only ones there, watching the sun going down. Not quite the same because the back two legs of my chair slowly sank into the sand and I had to be hauled out of it trying not to let go of my wine, and whilst we were laughing hysterically.
When I watched the film again I realised her chair was on a solid floor, not sand!

She must have saved up to buy the nice dresses for Greece. I especially liked the black and white one with red belt.

Also the two piece she wore when shopping for the restaurant. I suppose she could have bought the skirt and top at a local market after her suitcase was gone back to England.

Yes, seen it so many times but not for a while. Reminded me why I loved it so much.

Yep. Me too. Watched the whole set and revelled in nostalgia.

I love it smile so many men were like her husband (I hope not so many are now but unfortunately some of my friends are in dreadfully misogynistic relationships)

I watched the Pauline Collins documentary but not the film.

If I’m honest, I didn’t like it much at the time, although everyone raved about it. All that talking to the wall and the rock I found rather silly. But I know it was a trailblazer for women in similar relationships.

Did anyone see this last night? I love this film and what a stellar cast. Funny to think most of them are in their late 70s/early 80s now. It made me all nostalgic for times gone by. And what a looker Tom Conti was!
