Not giving anything away if I say the main character gets amnesia after a car accident in the Australian outback. We don't know his name either.
Just wondered if anyone else thought his accent changes from Scottish to Northern Irish? Maybe just bad acting.

Has anyone watched Episode 3? I was pleased to see the cowboy get finished off at last. I enjoyed the scene in the restaurant, and that they finally had some food, although they only drank alcohol so must be getting seriously dehydrated in that heat. Hey ho. He has no money so just wondering where all the money is coming from! The cop lady must be paying for everything, petrol, hotel fees, food, alcohol (they consumed a lot).

I enjoyed it. A bit odd very watchable.

Just watched Episode 3 so now up to date. The pace is still excitingly racy, but you do have to suspend belief with some things. How the cowboy managed to survive a very serious head injury and a fall down a well for instance. And then climb out, walk away and drive a car to his next meet-up! Just go with the flow I guess. And they still haven't eaten or drunk anything except alcohol!
How I was longing for the young policewoman to shoot the cowboy when she had her gun out. Go girl!

I take it there is to be a second series as there was much that wasn't explained. It really was quite confusing in parts but it was an unusual drama which was refreshing. Id rather have something like this to watch than yet more reality rubbish. Australia has some really excellent films and drama.

I'm working my way through this now and it's keeping me on my toes. I love the sense of menace hanging over everything, which makes it all rather creepy. You're never quite sure what will happen next. Some very unexpected things suddenly occur and that keeps you engaged. Normally I don't like plots that keep you guessing but this seems to work for me.
Loopholes in the plot include that they never seem to eat or drink, even on an 8 hour drive into the wilderness including a dust storm. They set off on that trip without stopping to get any water! Plus the lack of money (already mentioned) so how can he do all these things. the helicopter must have cost a fair bit. Never mind, I'm enjoying it.

I’d rather stick pins in my eyes than spend a night with Boris Johnson. At least Depp has only messed up his own life..

I only mean a quick drink!

Anyone but Johnny Depp. I would have to keep staring into my G&T rather than look at him.

Write up in Saturdays Times ripped the series apart, but then went on to say how enjoyable it was. Which pretty much sums it up!

maddyone Sat 08-Jan-22 23:48:35

I don’t think you’d have to spend the night with him MayBee, it’s just an evening. I don’t think I’d like to spend an evening with any of them, and for good measure, I’d hate to spend an evening with Donald Trump ?

Would you rather spend an evening with Johnny Depp or Boris Johnson/Jeremy Corbyn/Jacob Rees-Mogg?

Anyone but Johnny!

Calistemon Sat 08-Jan-22 20:30:11

Ever since the dogs episode.

I never liked him before either.
Just something about him that makes me shudder.

MayBee70 Sat 08-Jan-22 18:56:16

I don’t understand we he’s still got that after shave advert. He’s gone totally from hero to villain in my eyes.

Anyone is better than Johnny Depp.
I can't even look at him.

I have gone right off him too, the bastard

When I saw The Tourist in prog listings, I thought it was the Johnny Depp film set in Venice! ? That was far better in all respects than the current series - nicer location, better acting, less foul language, less violence. I thought the ending of this series was rather disappointing.
The main redeeming feature of this one was the character of the policewoman. It was good to see a main character who is not stick thin and not looking plastic with a trout pout!?
I can’t say I found the main man good-looking! A bit skinny for my liking. ?

I wonder if the father who is an obstetrician is as good looking as his son? I worked for obs and gynae consultants and they are usually charming.

I can’t express how annoyed I am at the person who decided to converse about episodes 5 and 6 when a cursory look through the posts would have shown that a lot of us are waiting eagerly for the weekly episodes and don’t want to binge watch and she’s just spoiled it totally for me at least! Is there any point in watching the rest now? thanks very much.

This has been discussed before, people blabbing the outcome of programmes they have binge watched, and ruining it for those of us with a bit more will power!

I have no problem with others who want to watch things quickly, but not with them revealing the end.

Keep it ? please!

One has to suspend disbelief sometimes.

Definitely

I did chunter all the way through ?

I was really looking forward to watching Last Christmas but ended up just tut tutting all the way through and thinking how silly it was. However, I then watched it again ( something I don’t often do with films) and thoroughly enjoyed it. Best not to think too much sometimes. I’ve got the dvd so I might just watch it again as well.

Luckylegs Sat 08-Jan-22 13:59:36

Thank you for trying anyway, Calistemon, some people just don’t have two brain cells to rub together, unfortunately.

Calistemon Sat 08-Jan-22 13:51:01

He lost his father to Covid last year, sadly.

I saw that Luckylegs, that's why I tried to alert people in a post but it was too late.
Yes, do watch it.

Should have remembered to shave off his beard!

Review of The Tourist in The Times today discusses his amnesia and the different things he has forgotten.

Quote "He's also forgotten why he's in Australia, but that's OK because apparently so have the scriptwriters." grin

As well as forgotten to carry any water with him.
Or wear a hat.

He remembered to get a haircut though.

I watched half way through episode 5 and had to turn it off . It was so weird and couldn’t stand any more violence. Shall Google the ending to see what happened.
