Anyone see the film, “Mothering Sunday”? Saw it today and thought it well filmed, and with interesting content. I didn’t feel the maid was very well cast however - she seemed to have a rather more modern look, than that of the 1920s. Worth seeing, I felt.

I think I would like to see the film because I read the book a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it.

I've just looked on Amazon Prime. It's £13.99 to rent! shock

I saw it at the cinema. It’s based on a book by Graham Swift

I saw it at the cinema about a month ago - DH wanted to see it as he thought it was a comedy - it wasn't. I enjoyed it (as did DH even though it wasn't quite what he was expecting). However, it left me feeling a bit melancholy.

I’ve not read the book but I’ve read a few by Graham Swift and really like his style.

Yes, you’re right, mrswoo, it was a melancholy film. Very sensual at the beginning - to show the depth of their feelings I guess.
