Meatloaf has died!

Sad news-which brought on a bout of reminiscing about uni days and playing the Bat out of Hell album over and over again very loudly.
I just suggested to 'im indoors' that we should dust off his turntable and put the same vinyl album on but he chose to use his selective deafness option and ignore the idea totally, so its not going to happen (today ). Neighbours can stand down .

I would think Alexa's are really cheesed off.

Sad news. I saw him twice. Once at Reading Festival and he was bottled off stage! And oddly in a pop-up gig on the seafront in Bournemouth. I thought my ears were deceiving me from the distance but they weren’t.

I have Alexa blaring out - wasn't working earlier she must have been conserving her energy.

I would imagine the documentary about him will be shown on BBC4 soon. It is very interesting, he had a very sad life until he left home at a very early age and he had mixed fortunes afterwards.

I did see him once but he seemed very out of sorts and didn’t interact with the audience much which I believe was very out of character for him. I believe he was going through a period of ill health at the time. I liked his song with Cher - Dead Ringer For Love. He was rather good on Celebrity Apprentice USA.

A sad loss for his family, he was devoted to his wife and two daughters.

Very sad.

I was lucky enough to meet him very briefly a long time ago.
He was absolutely charming and very kind.

Such sad news! We saw Meat Loaf in Edinburgh, back in the day. Fabulous show. ❤️

He was planning to record again this month and do some TV shows, after a long spell of back troubles.

I'm listening to the Bat Out of Hell album right now. 17 again...

Heaven can Wait

I was so sorry to read earlier today that he had died. I was a latecomer to Meatloaf`s music, only became a fan about 10 years ago, in interviews he always seemed such a nice man.

Tribute programmes running on Sky Arts. Such a great talent, big part of my youth.

So sad - I think he was one of the best rock artists ever! I still know all the words to all his songs.

Very sad.
Bat out of hell album takes me back to being 18 again.

We have seen him lots of times.

Most memorably at Warwick Castle with DD3.

'Paradise by the dashboard light' was often sung in our kitchen while Sunday lunch was being prepared and I remember singing 'I'd do anything for love' at the tops of our voices while driving to school for DD2's A Levels. It helped to calm her nerves and gee her up. It worked!!

I was at that concert! Can you recall when it was as a friend of mine has just said that I am mistaken and he had never played there.

I loved Meatloaf and his music He had a tough old life as a child and bouts of ill health and depression throughout
He was married to his first wife for 22 years and the second 15 years so a pretty loyal chap I guess
I never saw him

I was never a fan as it wasn’t my taste in music, but I can see how some would love the undoubted passion and energy in his songs.

He was never the sort of chap to take home to meet the parents though was he ?!!

My late big brother wasn’t much of a music buff, but he really liked both Abba and Meat Loaf, as evidenced by they were the only CDs found in his car after he died. We picked “I Have A Dream” and “Heaven Can Wait” as two of the songs played at his cremation service. Nine years on and I still can’t listen to either of them without crying.
Bat Out of Hell has surely got to be considered as one of the best albums ever.

There is a lot of odd stuff coming out about Meatloaf being an anti vaxxer.
It’s in the papers today.

DH’s Meatloaf story:
He once found himself in the next bed to Mr Loaf in the A&E department at Derbyshire Royal Infirmary.

It seems he’s died from covid. Such a talent gone.

We took 18 year old DD3 and were sitting a long way back but, in the block in front of us, a very tipsy drunk woman stood on her seat and performed the whole concert facing us. She must have seen it lots!

It is a lovely memory all round.

Not a fan of his music either but all the tributes paid say he was a lovely man, a gentleman through and through. ?.
Can’t get better than that. ?

According to the Times today he was terrified of catching the virus but was critical of vaccine mandates. It wasn’t clear if he was vaccinated or not but was quoted as saying “If I die, I die, but I’m not going to be controlled”.
