Good idea? Bad idea?

Are there any reasonable CAV's? Guess we'll soon find out.

Too many .

If you take a sample of 100 people, and 90 of them are vaccinated that leaves 10 who are not.

If 30 of the sample are in hospital and 20 of them are vaccinated that means 10 of them are not.

What percentage of the hospitalised (in this scenario) are unvaccinated?

janeainsworth Tue 25-Jan-22 10:22:47

love0c. Why would it be? The vaccinated are the sick ones. That is the point I am making
The reasons that most of the staff who are off sick are the vaccinated ones are that
most of the staff have been vaccinated
the vaccine doesn’t stop you catching omicron. It reduces your risk of being seriously ill and hospitalised
If you test positive you still have to isolate even if you have very mild symptoms

Hope that makes sense to you.

Can someone answer my question on the first page please.
Is it in the studio? Everyone sitting together?
Thank you!

I think I am in more danger from eating too many Chips, rather from covertly being chipped??

love0c Tue 25-Jan-22 10:14:00

I will not be bothering again!

love0c Tue 25-Jan-22 10:13:34

Oh Dear Alegrias I asked if anybody had seen the interview with the doctor. I was telling you what she had said!

Witzend Tue 25-Jan-22 10:05:12

I’m torn on this.
I’d hope that that a) there will be eloquent and authoritative expert pro-vax voices to counteract them, and
b) that the anti-vaxxers will end up looking like idiots.

But we shall see

janeainsworth Tue 25-Jan-22 10:03:55

If it turns out too many vaccinations are actually making people susceptible to these virus, we need to now
Did you just make that up Love0c or have you read it somewhere?
If you read it somewhere, please provide a reference so that the rest of us can judge for ourselves the standard of scientific literature you base your opinions on.

I suppose if you think that troops on our streets is a perfectly normal way to control people, shutting down free speech goes hand in hand with that thinking.

eazybee Tue 25-Jan-22 10:01:07

A very sensible idea to allow them to put their views up for debate; debate should never be stifled.
I remember Nick Griffin, chairman of BNP on Question Time, and when they had finally shut up the audience and one was able to listen properly it was very much a case of giving him enough rope to hang himself.

Grandmabatty Tue 25-Jan-22 09:42:30

Alegrias hear hear.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 25-Jan-22 09:39:53

Whilst vaccines are not mandatory in the U.K. these folk have as much right as the next to put their point of view.

They should be treated the same as anyone else on QT.

It may even help for the rest of us to learn/understand why thousands of NHS workers, including doctors, midwives and nurses are willing to lose their jobs rather than have the Covid vaccines.

Yammy Tue 25-Jan-22 09:31:43

I would like to hear their arguments but think it should be balanced with people with the medical facts and Dr's from overworked I.C.U wards.
We have young anti vaxers near us they broke all the rules we all followed and there were huge family parties, and lots caught Covid.
My DD said she had to have a workman in and without prompting he went on about how the vac was putting chips into us so that the government could control us. She walked out of the room.

M0nica Tue 25-Jan-22 09:29:53

They are entitled to their say, but it should be an explaining their views say, not a proselityising say, and they should be given no more time than those offering the predominant view.

Alegrias1 Tue 25-Jan-22 09:29:29

The unvaccinated are not ill!

Rubbish. Completely untrue. Stop making things up.

I've really got no more patience now, after all this time. If you keep repeating this I will report you and get you deleted for false news.

Why would it be? The vaccinated are the sick ones. That is the point I am making. There does need to be debate/studies. It is no good burying our heads in the sand. If it turns out too many vaccinations are actually making people susceptible to these virus, we need to now.

This is misleading and basically, well...wrong.

In a thread about balanced discussions, this needs to be called out.

But honestly, I don't have the energy to type it all out again.

Get your vaccination. Stop spreading untruths. Stop trying to frighten people and make people think you know better than they do.

Or, if you really believe this twaddle, read some proper articles about it, not SM rubbish.

loopyloo Tue 25-Jan-22 09:25:54

I can understand people having reservations about a fairly new vaccine that was rapidly produced and rolled out. Also, people who are in their 20s and 30s not overweight and no health issues are very unlikely to end up in itu and likely to develop a natural immunity.
To fire people in the nhs because of this is a mistake. The flu vaccine was never mandatory although very encouraged.
Is this a further step towards privatisation?

love0c Tue 25-Jan-22 09:25:43

The unvaccinated are not ill! Hence, they are not off work! Good grief! Both the vaccinated and the unvaccinated have to test!!!

Grandmabatty Tue 25-Jan-22 09:23:32

Of course the vaccinated are sick. They are the majority in NHS therefore more of them will be sick. They are also dealing with non vaccinated people regularly. Of course the vaccine isn't making them sick! Good grief.

Grandmabatty Tue 25-Jan-22 09:19:17

I would have expected the majority of NHS staff to be vaccinated so it stands that they will be off sick. The vaccine doesn't stop you getting covid, but it stops you getting seriously ill, in the main. Just the same as the flu vaccine. I stopped watching Question Time years ago as it stopped being a debate, more a rabble.

Anyone see the interview with the doctor last night? Apparently the sickness of staff off at the moment in the NHS are the vaccinated?! Just so you know I am fully vaccinated.

Well it would be wouldn't it, if you think about it.

The question to ask is how sick are they, compared to the unvaccinated who are sick.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 25-Jan-22 09:15:55

I am a firm believer in free speech so yes they are entitled to explain their reasons for refusing the vaccine.

However, because we are in a pandemic crises with many many deaths, then it is beholden if the BBC to ensure that they have a doctor explaining his reasons for having a vaccine and a virologist explains how virus work and an epidemiologist explains the consequences if not having a vaccine. To provide balance to the argument.
