The Repair Shop ... again, and connections.

I have sent a note both to the Programme and to Loomes.

janejudge of course there are people who can and will repair an item, but often the charges will be so high that they are unaffordable. It won’t matter that they are charging their lowest possible fee, if you can’t afford it you won’t get it done.
The Repair shop does it so that we can all get a glimpse, it might be useful if they told us how much it would have cost to get the item repaired by an expert outside the show ? I’m sure it would make people appreciate the talents of the Repair team.

I guess they have many more requests than they can handle. There is no charge to the owner of the items, though a donation to charity is suggested. The experts are brilliant at their craft and lovely people. Men are encouraged to show their feelings too, which is good.
DH loved the clock. He wanted the whole programme to be about that item!
Janejudge, what do you mean, it is a tv show, not real? The people are real, the items are real, it is just not a commercial enterprise with customers, that doesn’t make it not real surely?

I applied to the show ( got nowhere) but in the info online they do ask fir voluntary charity contributions which is fair enough.
Very disappointed not to hear from them as my item had an interesting and sad back story attached, which is what they look for.

Do enjoy the programme and watching the work involved is always interesting.
Has anyone else been successful or know anyone who has?

It wouldn't have been- Loomes moved to the current workshop a few years ago, from another location in Stamford I believe. But the original workshop was in London.

Yes, they moved into what used to be a beautician's, just by the bridge over to the George.

I was wondering actually, do they repair for free, totally, or are contributions requested. Would love to know- as I have a few things that could be interesting on the programme.

Free or not- the interesting thing is the historical connection. As the owner, I would love to know- and as a repairer, as well.

I bet the current family repairers would have loved the opportunity to work on that clock! It’s lovely to see this, as you say they should have mentioned it on The Repair Shop.
