Is it just a men thing shouting at the telly ?

I also shout out the answers to quiz programmes and when I get frustrated with people giving wrong answers.
Me too - as if they can hear me ?

Mine didn't shout but he did mansplain all the way through
?

Oh, spoke too soon - he's shouting at the TV now, France -v- Ireland!
He doesn't think Ireland's going to win but they have to as they beat Wales.
I presume that has some logic.

I shout when my team plays, I love football and I'm very passionate. So no it's not just a 'man' thing.

I shout at the to when racing is in, especially when it is a close finish!

Jaxjacky Sat 12-Feb-22 16:15:20

Not just men OP.
Because I get excited/frustrated when my team play well/badly, as earlier today, sport is about passion.
Excellent result Saints btw.

Cos they all think they're Ron Manager and their players haven't listened to them properly before they went out on the pitch..........and then they think they would somehow have done better! dream on I find it's best not to be in the same room when football is on, because frankly as I tell the men in my family " I don't give a shiny "s**t whether their team wins or loses" more so now at their team contains the cat kicker angry I get the pleasure bit of the win, but not the agony of the lose, in the great scheme of things it's of no importance imo.

Mine are all at the match so it is very peaceful here.

Calendargirl

I shout out answers on Pointless, to my DH’s annoyance.

I agree Calendargirl. I always think on any quiz show if you don’t say it out loud it doesn’t count that you’ve got the question right ✔️

DanniRae Sat 12-Feb-22 15:26:13

I shout when watching The Weakest Link because they forget to "Bank" and loose all the money they could have won. My daughter won't watch it with me because I get so worked up! shock

I shout at our current politicians frequently. I just can’t manage to keep quiet over all the lies that are being told.

DH always joints in with the shouting over footy.

Kim19 Sat 12-Feb-22 14:41:30

Frustration and sheer joy!

Kim19 Sat 12-Feb-22 14:40:52

Looks like it's going to be a high scoring game, Annie! My shouting is a combo action of excitement,

Definitely not just a man thing. I shout at sport and also sometimes the news!

I shout at the news too. More so recently!

Same thing for formula 1 here. Even the dog joins in barking at the TV!

DD wanted a quiet afternoon after a busy week so has sent her partner to the pub with a mate so they can shout at the telly there.

love0c Sat 12-Feb-22 14:26:16

Goodness me. Does anyone remember watching the wrestling on a Saturday afternoon? My mother shouted! Believe you me!! grin

Hiraeth Sat 12-Feb-22 14:25:17

??

AGAA4 Sat 12-Feb-22 14:22:20

My DH and 2 sons used to shout at the telly when their team were playing. Glad we lived in an isolated house then or it would have annoyed the neighbours.

Is it just a men thing shouting at the telly ?

Nope. Not that we've had a telly to shout at for fifteen years. People shouting at the telly when they're watching football is exactly the same as people shouting to the thin air when they're watching football at a club ground – cheering on good play or shouting exasperation at bad play or what they see as bad luck.
