On BBC IPlayer I have just found Hope Street an inoffensive police series set in a beautiful Northern Ireland seaside town. Thoroughly enjoyed the first episode, 9 more to go.

I enjoyed it too and was sorry when I saw the last episode. I hope they make another series.

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole series.

How nice, I'll tell my daughter, she worked as assistant director on this. When they are filming in the pub she was on the floor under a table!

Great series. Worthy of evening air time

I found this too and we enjoyed it. I also found it on iplayer rather than the regular schedules. Was it ever on the main BBC1 channel or just NI?

Nandalot Sun 27-Feb-22 14:08:29

It was BBC1, an afternoon slot.

Friend I met on GN who lives in Belfast recommended it. She said it is filmed in seaside town they went to a lot and holds many memories. Quite fluffy but beautiful scenery and pleasant for a change!

I also enjoyed it. Straightforward easy plot.

Want to truly thank NK, for taking the time to recommend this series. I'm halfway through and thoroughly enjoying the general gentleness of it. Great stuff!

I am really enjoying this too. Does anyone know where it is actually filmed, it looks such a beautiful place.

Shandy57 Sun 27-Feb-22 17:37:17

It's filmed at Donaghadee Judy54, on the NE coast.

Thank you so much Shandy57 I am going to take a look at it.

Shandy57 Sun 27-Feb-22 17:44:26

I was nervous for my daughter driving there and back every day Judy54, about 30 minutes from her Belfast home. She's not an experienced driver and it was a lot of narrow country windy roads.

Judy54 Sun 27-Feb-22 18:09:04

Thanks Shandy57 I am not thinking about going there as Mr J has health problems but I would like to take a look at it online just for the sheer beauty of it.

I would really appreciate other recommendations of this type of gentle plot please? I'm all out of the heavy violence stuff. Sandi Tosvig 'guest' show is quite entertaining. Fascinating locations with interesting guests.

We enjoyed Hope Street too - very gently drama without explosions of swearing and blood and guts. When we watched the first episode it seemed too gentle, with not a lot happening, but after getting to know the characters a bit we enjoyed it. (That's me and Mr A, not the royal We ? )

Since HS had such a dramatic ending, I'm assuming (fervently hoping) there will be another series. Anyone know?
