Crufts

Until Covid we’d attended Crufts for years. A thoroughly enjoyable time. Sat next to Clare watching fly-ball - she was lovely. We’ve seen judges bitten (dog disqualified) and handlers trip over and fall flat when showing their dogs! Although DH and I had working spaniels (dozens of them) over the years, my favourite dog is a Glen of Amall terrier - very rare, so not often featured.

I hadn't watched the working dog judging when I posted earlier. The flattie won my heart with that wagging tail. A worthy winner!

I was a bit worried about the golden cocker doing well. When I used to have spaniels golden ones were very nasty; they’d been inbred to get the colour and it had resulted in behavioural problems. The problem has been sorted now but I’d still be loathe to get a golden. I’m sure they are ok now but unscrupulous breeders might start interbreeding again.

The border collie for me. There was real alertness in those eyes, the glossy coat was just a superficial act to fool us. "Find me some sheep!"

Yes the greyhound was a beauty, so was the red cocker spaniel. I like standard and mini poodles - ok some toys are grand little dogs and Whaffle was full of his own importance so likeable. I’d have preferred a less in your face groom

I like flat coat retrievers and believe the best dog won. The toy poodle was a cracker but I preferred the Irish terrier. It was a great selection from best in breed winners

I really like the dog that won, he looked so happy I reckon the poodle had a wet on the carpet after all that weird bollock holding and thumbing of his bum hole sorry to lower the tone

It was that gorgeous collie for me. I just don't understand those poodles!

I don’t know why I’ve not come across Olive and Mabel before: their utube thingy actually had me crying with laughter. I think I’ve got quite a few more to catch up on.

Flatties must improve with age because a previous Flattie winner was even older than this years winner who I think they said was 6? I rather liked the Border Collie but have always had a soft spot for Flatties. I was a bit irritated by the presenter the other day calling a Pearly King a Peaky Blinder. I just felt that people presenting tv programmes should know things like that. I’m glad that they made a point of informing people that some dogs eg the Siberian Husky, are very difficult to look after. I like seeing all the different breeds. I came across a new breed myself today, a Lakeland Fell terrier so I’ve been googling their characteristics tonight: I was quite taken with them.

My spaniel never seems to take any interest in the TV normally, but he was absolutely glued to the gun dog judging today, it was so noticeable I took a video on my phone. They must know the shape of their own breed even on TV. I was glad that Baxter the retriever won, but the red cocker was his favourite.

Amazing dogs. I liked the winner, we had one of those when I was a child. My favourite was the border collie.

The flat coated retriever was very lovely ut my favourite was the Irish terrier.

I’m a fan. Have myself an apricot toy poodle too so really keen to see Waffle do well, he is a little star. My boy does not have a coat like that! No way I could manage it. I’ve been to Crufts a couple of times and would love to go again one day it’s a joy if your a dog lover.

I’m on antibiotics so on the sofa. Rather than out with my dogs I’ve watched some of Crufts. I like Claire Baldwin and I’ve rather enjoyed every dog she’s had on her tv sofa misbehaving. Apart from Olive and Mabel who snoozed away
Yes too much agility and flyball, not enough on the various dog breed groups

I have just watched the judging of the toy and utility groups. I was really taken with the character of Waffle the apricot toy poodle. I shall be rooting for him to get Best in Show tomorrow. Anyone else have a favourite?

I used to have Border Collies so I can happily watch wall to wall Fly-Ball and Agility. I've really been enjoying it this year. I like Clare and I've found it all really entertaining.

I get bored with all the fly-ball and agility being aired. I record and watch only the show judging which is very little this year.

I agree, very little about the show dogs. Turned it off.

Seems to have turned into the Clare Balding show. Think I prefer Scruffs to Crufts
