I love Joanna Lumley’s documentaries, in my eyes she can do no wrong and this first one about Paris is excellent in my humble opinion..?

I agree, I thought it was excellent. Joanna bought Paris to life and I felt the city energized her. Really looking forward to the other episodes.

Yes, she was very good, as ever, but the programme's researchers need a sharp talking to. The kings of France were crowned at Reims Cathedral, not Notre Dame de Paris.

I enjoyed it. The scaffolding inside Notre Dame was a work of art in itself!

I’ve not watched it yet, but may do so. I find Joanna Lumley rather too gushing for my taste though. I love Paris so would watch it for that reason.

She’s my style icon. I just love her clothes.

I missed it. But I like to watch her programmes. I think she's lovely and still beautiful and stylish too. I read an article where she explained that she cuts and dyes her own hair. Something I didn't expect.

You weren’t the only one shouting at the screen.

I loved the coat she bought and the contrast of her simple outfit beside that monstrosity of "fashion"!

I listen to Joanna on Radio 4 sounds app “conversations from a long marriage” with Roger Allam. It’s v funny-and occasionally poignant. Well worth a listen

The scaffolding blew me away too Sparklefizz.

I love her clothes too merlotgran - she has aged well and always looks stylish.

Not sure I believe that she cuts her own hair as her style looks like an expensive choppy cut. She may colour it herself but cutting your own hair is challenging.

I love Joanna and enjoyed it. However, she really needs to be less gushing and sycophantic. Just my humble opinion.

I had made up my mind not to watch any more programmes with lucky presenters who get all the plum jobs, and wish they would choose some less successful person and give them a chance.
However, I couldn't resist a peep, and within minutes I was completely drawn in and enchanted by the programme and by Joanna. She is just marvellous at this sort of thing and I take back all my original negative thoughts. smile

Kate1949 Sun 20-Mar-22 10:59:59

Yes she is good. I'm probably jealous!

Aveline Sun 20-Mar-22 11:09:48

I always enjoy her travel programmes. She's so friendly and happy to make a fool of herself. Stunningly glamorous too! Lovely to see Paris.

Love her and loved the programme. Already looking forward to her next one...........she is in Rome! smile

Oh that beautiful Chanel coat!

Very interesting to see how the work on Notre Dame is progressing. I think having it ready for the Olympics is a bit optimistic.

I enjoyed her Paris visit and same goes for the programme on Rome airing just now.
The visit to the Sistine Chapel and to Bulgari had interesting twists, I thought.
Marydoll if you haven't come across it- you’ll love it I would think, and it'll be on the ITV hub catch up service.
Next week its Berlin- looking forward to that.

Same here too gushing, but I would have loved that key to the Sistine Chapel, what a privilege.

I don't think she does gush. It's more that she has a posh accent and an actressy voice. What I find endearing is that she mostly takes the Mickey out of herself and isn't afraid to make herself look silly.

I enjoyed Rome especially as many of the places she showed I went to with my DD. It makes me want to go back to Italy, but a coastal area. I need to see and smell the sea. Just love the language too.

I love watching Joanna Lumley - she's so upbeat and doesn't take herself too seriously. Have enjoyed this series and am looking forward to the next episodes.
