Two of my favourite actors, so I liked it very much. But I can see that it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I was really looking forward to this film but like grannygravy I didn't warm to it. Usually love Tom Hanks in everything.

I still watch him if I’m struggling to get to sleep and it still works. 15 minutes in and I’m gone. It was a stroke of genius by the BBC showing his programmes at the start of the pandemic.

Bob Ross is having a come back moment after Covid. I remember watching him all the time way back when. Now, though, I had to turn him off because the scraping of his knife on the palette drove me crazy.

I grew up watching Mr Rogers. He is so calming and I learned so much from him. And yes, he is a legend here in the US.

I discovered Bob Ross when the pandemic started: another American legend!

I bought the dvd ages ago and enjoyed it. It’s almost impossible to believe that anyone could be that nice but he really was*. It’s worth reading about him on Wikipedia, too.
* I guess one could say the same about Tom Hanks as well!

Thank you for the recommendation Jane43.
I watched this, this afternoon and enjoyed it very much.

I really like Tom Hanks, but I couldn’t warm to this film.

I quite enjoyed it, I think I tuned into it more than anything because l really like Welsh actor Matthew Rhys, he was the main draw for me, fabulous Mr Darcy in Death Comes to Pemberley. Tom Hanks always reliably good.

I agree, it’s an enjoyable, heart warming film. I read that British audiences feared Mr Rogers would be one of those hiding in plain site people. So pleased we were wrong

Yes I believe he is Fanny. In one of the series of This Is Us Kevin as a little boy talked about wanting to watch his programme. The film gives a good idea of what his programmes were like and the kind of man he was.

Mr Rogers is an absolute legend in the US.
I hadn’t heard of him until recently. I haven’t seen the film (but of a non-post, sorry!)

This film stars Tom Hanks as Mr Rogers, the presenter of a US children’s tv programme. It is the story of how a cynical reporter with father issues is assigned to do an article on Mr Rogers for Esquire magazine. A friendship between the two very different men develops. It is a very heartwarming story which avoids being cheesy. DH and I both enjoyed it very much and our tastes are very different.
