I remember a British program that tried to recreate this with British children.
Different groups were set the task of getting from a park to the London eye. There was all sorts of hoops the program makers had to jump through, not least the bus drivers would report unaccompanied children, under eight, to the police. I remember a little boy with his younger twin sisters, it didn’t look like they had any chance of going anywhere! But they managed.
It was a revelation what is expected of some children and how much they are actually capable of.
I sometimes wonder if our society has it right with all primary having to be collected by an adult, even p6 and p7.

I felt so much for the one with the fish and the one with the apples grin

It is very cute - the children are so proud of themselves when they complete their mission. No swearing, no sex, no violence - just how I like it.

Been enjoying it for a few days, some of the kids are just adorable.

I started watching this yesterday and loved it. It's a strange Japanese programme which has apparently been around for years. I thought it sounded rather dubious before I started to watch it but it really isn't.
Very young children (2 - 6 years) are sent on errands alone, for the first time by their parents. There are lots of camera people along the route and neighbours have been warned to keep an eye on them but not to interfere. The children are wearing microphones in bags and provide their own running commentary, which is often hilarious. There are subtitles thankfully. I thought there might be an overload of cuteness, but I think it's just enough! My OH - not a lover of twee things - actually enjoyed it too. There are some real laugh out loud moments as well as the aw factor. It's just such a good antidote to the drama in the real world! Give it a go.
