I loved the last act, the girl who got the golden buzzer, but did anyone else get the feeling that it was all pre-arranged? She is more or less a professional singer.

I haven't watched it for a long time but saw the last show. Simon Cowell looks positively sinister and pulls the most awful faces. I am not at all keen on David Walliams (and think his books are rubbish too).

The acts weren't great.

I agree with *Bluebelle" that it is wrong to make circus animals perform and it now feels wrong to watch dogs performing. I am sure the dog's owner loves him/her dearly but if feels quite wrong to watch it prancing around like a puppet.

Hellogirl1 Thu 21-Apr-22 10:38:37

The only things I can commend him on are his swims for charity. The antics with Simon Cowell are verging on obscene.

henetha Thu 21-Apr-22 10:26:31

No, I don't think so. He's an actor, mainly comedy. And now a writer. My grandchildren loved his books.

nanna8 Thu 21-Apr-22 10:23:54

David Walliams was quite funny in Little Britain but I guess that is not woke and pc these days. I’m not sure why they would use him as a talent show judge, seems a bit strange. Is he a musician?

BlueBelle Wed 20-Apr-22 06:13:13

Joseanne A great author is someone who gets childrens imagination flowing and gets the reader reading David Walliams does just that in bucket loads
Like him or loath him he gets kids reading
Who gives adults the right to judge ?

I would probably never have got to read a book if it hadn’t been for Enid Blyton and the Faraway Tree I never got into childrens classics ‘the good books’
I went on to be an avid reader, (even the cornflakes packet)

GillT57 Tue 19-Apr-22 13:11:57

Snowberry. Nowhere on my post did I say that Walliams is a paedophile, please do not misquote me. I gave my opinion on him, as did Bluebelle, and I stand by it.

Joseanne Tue 19-Apr-22 09:02:24

I'm going to go a bit snobby here, but when we practise with the children for 11+ school entrance interviews it is a big NO NO for them to say that they think DW is a great author!

snowberryZ Tue 19-Apr-22 07:22:37

Fair point Bluebelle.
The ott camp creepiness doesn't sit right with being a children's author.

BlueBelle Tue 19-Apr-22 07:19:17

But I didn’t suggest he was a paedophile snowberry that’s you jumping to conclusions I said the way he ‘acts’ reminds me of Saville I didn’t say he was doing anything bad to children the way he acts as an established childrens author is pretty crude and I think inappropriate When he has built a reputation around children looking up to him and then see him with his tongue hanging out pretending to flirt with Simon or chasing him round the table I ve seen him previously jump on the stage and chase a young chap around, then this week ripping his shirt off to an elderly lady it’s all so inappropriate and makes him out to be perhaps something he’s not
It’s crude and nasty and not funny

snowberryZ Tue 19-Apr-22 06:39:27

Lucas not Lucy

I have a huge problem with Walliams in particular, failed comic actor who launched himself as a writer of children's books, many plots stolen from established authors. It is interesting what you say about him Bluebell, I too think there is a touch of Savile about him, he makes my flesh crawl and he certainly fails the "would you let him babysit your GC?" test. I think he will be outed one day.

That's a bit of a leap.
I don't particularly like him and don't find his brand of humour funny these days.
Although I thought he and Matt Lucy's were brilliant together in Little Britain and Come Fly With Me. (Probably not a popular ooinion)
but to accusse someone of being a paedophile wirh no evidence is very wrong.

MamaB247 Tue 19-Apr-22 00:01:44

I think it should be British people only why call it Britains got talent. As for the two Holden buzzers they are both professionals. Why even allow them on yes they are good but that's because they are professional this is meant to be a show to find new talent these people already have a career and are basically snatching that away from the ones who may never have a career because they can't get the leg up.

Kate1949 Mon 18-Apr-22 13:11:45

I won't be watching again Gill. I used to enjoy it but agree with what you say.

No not at all Gill. It used to be about ordinary folk being given a chance to shine. Now they are coming from all over the world. That's absolutely fine. However they need a new title. The World's Got Talent perhaps.

Fair enough! Sorry I was a bit unduly harsh but I really dislike the show with its cruelty and fakery. Also there is the unfortunate coincidence of most of the people in the entertainment industry that I dislike all being on one show! I did laugh at the descriptions of all the waxy faces in a row ?

BlueBelle Mon 18-Apr-22 13:05:35

I don’t have any problem with people coming from anywhere if they want to, if Australia and Israel can be in the European song contest then why not !
However no one professional or semi pro should be in it and NO animals of any kind
I probably won’t watch again I can’t really stand the judges
I thought some of the acts were fairly good especially the comedian at the end the man with the octopus was ridiculous and not funny and the awful antics of Wallams in front of children makes me think of Jimmy Saville Cowell looks weedy maybe lost too much weight ? Amanda Holden is just plastic on a seat, silly lady and her laugh is like a baying donkey
It all needs a BIG overhaul

Granny23 Mon 18-Apr-22 12:26:59

I thought last night's show was much better, with some genuine home grown talent - especially the comedian at the end - a natural.

Kate1949 Mon 18-Apr-22 12:18:33

Gill I didn't mention 'white'. Lots of Brutish people aren't white.

I'm signing up the cat for next week's show. Please all vote for us. Happy to share the winnings amongst those on this thread.

I agree Hellogirl. I used to enjoy it but don't think I'll watch again. The early heats used to have some really awful performers which gave us all a bit if a laugh. There weren't many last night. I suppose we're not allowed to laugh at people now. Also too many acts who weren't British so it's not really Britain's Got Talent.

Christ on a bike, I have read it all now. So maybe this ghastly attempt at entertaining the masses should be renamed "White British Ethnics' Got Talent"

People are saying that the man who got up to sing after his mum brought his daughters on stage, had a microphone pinned to his chest whilst in the audience. We are being conned.

lol grin

Millie22 Mon 18-Apr-22 11:54:00

Yes one of simon's eyes looked not quite right so perhaps as a result of his accident. He also has such a shiny face.

Purplepixie Mon 18-Apr-22 11:33:36

That is it! I am not watching it anymore. The last act on saturday night is a professional! Why the hell was she allowed to be on the show? Also I dont agree with little children under a certain age being on their. They get so upset if they are not picked and it sets some of them up for life thinking that they are not good enough. They cannot rationalise what is going on. That poor little lad when he fell off the scooter made my stomach churn. Did anyone ask how he was? He was plopped straight back on the scooter. No the programme will not be on in our house. That is me switching off! Did anyone else wonder what was going on with Simon Cowell’s eyes? They looked weird along with Amanda’s face! The whole programme is one big set up!

Joseanne Mon 18-Apr-22 11:25:09

Yes and I noticed he had brought his guitar with him.
And his words to sing. grin
