Definitely not! I hate Gorgonzola.

A mere hint of Gorgonzola?

Chestnut Thu 05-May-22 16:32:00

Lucca there may be a small element of cheesiness in A Place to Call Home but the characters are great and the plot is so entwining it keeps you watching. The costumes and scenery are wonderful and their house is just to die for! I love their house.

"Five Bedrooms" is also good. Now on BBC 1.

I stumbled across this on iPlayer over the Bank Holiday weekend so binge watched the first series. It’s currently being shown on BBC 1 every afternoon I think.

I love the humour

A place to Call Home is brilliant. Australian drama is much improved from the days of The Sullivan, Sons and Daughters and A Country Practuce which Were in TV when my children were small. Also have happy memories of watching Neighbours with my Children.

I also enjoyed Rake, Offspring and now Five Bedrooms,

I loved loved loved offspring (and rake ) but didn’t watch many of a place to call home….can’t remember why, maybe a bit cheesy ?

? so funny. I thought about giving mine to the small child next door, but thought better of it. It’s mine, all mine! ??

I've always said A Place to Call Home is possibly the best drama I've ever seen! I'm beginning to think I like Australian dramas all round. I agree Five Bedrooms on BBC is a lovely one (currently showing the 2nd series but should be on iPlayer). I also watched The Heights which seemed very much like a soap but hasn't kept going. I saw two series, also on BBC.

Where can I find A Place to call Home?

It’s on the Drama Channel for download, all 6 series. I have Sky and it’s channel 143. Free view 20. It’s starting from the beginning on Drama starting Monday 2.30 am! One to record rather than watch when it’s on.

There is one called ‘A Place to Call Home’ which is 40s and 50s, which I watched a while ago. It ran for 6 series.
A more modern one called ‘Offspring’ ran for 7 series. I think both of these got me through the first lockdown!

FannyCornforth Thu 05-May-22 10:44:41

Hello!
This series has been highly recommended to me a few times on here.

It’s a long running family drama.
It’s Australian. It has great costumes. It might be set in the 50s, I’m not sure.

Thank you!
