I enjoyed State of the Union on BBCiPlayer. Two series now. One set in London with Rosamund Pike and Chris O'Dowd and the other in the States with Brendan Gleeson and Patricia Clarkson. Both about couples having marriage counselling. Sounds grim but isn't. It's written by Nick Hornby and directed by Stephen Frears so it's light and witty. Each episode is only ten minutes long so might suit if you can't sit for long.

Had a load of paperwork to do last night so I watched this as it was something I could just listen to. Very much an updated version of the Nick Hornby book that I struggled with but did get to enjoy ( How to be Good). Really enjoyed it; will probably watch it again. Haven’t seen the American version yet, I’ll watch that tonight. Not sure how I missed it. Then again there are too many series to watch at the moment. I haven’t started on the new Outlaws yet, or the new Terror.

I stubbled upon Night Sky on Prime.
It's about an older Retired couple who have a secret passage to another Planet /World, and the consequences.

It one of those series that creeps up on you.
I haven't finished it yet, few more to go but it's got me hooked.
Very different from the normal.
Worth a look.

Good! I loved Chris O'Dowd in Juliet, Naked. Such a sweet and funny film. Nicky Hornby's High Fidelity reset in the States starring John Cusack is one of those films I can watch over and over. Have you seen those?

We watched the film ' St Vincent' on Prime a couple of nights ago, with Bill Murray and Chris O'Dowd, it was a funny and really touching film.

I love Chris O’Dowd ( and Nick Hornby) but totally missed this series. Thanks for that. I’ve just found it on iplayer.

I found the book in a sale for 50p - have added it to the family history pile.

Does anyone remember the name of a programme on a Sunday evening on BBC 1 that was about a family in a village in ?19th century. The star was the same actor as was in Downton Abbey (got sent to prison/married the maid/had a gammy leg)?

LG3, if you have Amazon Prime, there is a lovely series called This is Us. It follows an American family across the generations, through about 5 or 6 seasons.
So you could start at Season 1 … or just watch the most recent one

i love their geographical programmes, and natural history. some wonderful scenery.
but maybe avoid the military ones.
