Did anyone else watch this?

There were so many characters, all linked or related in some way, that it is going to take some sorting out. Five more episodes to find out who is who ?

If it wasn't for the title I wouldn't have realised from most of the accents that it was set in the Midlands, although I did hear someone addressed as "duck".

We spent a lot of time spotting known faces - "Oh, it's him!" "Oh, it's her!" "Where have we seen them before?"

The acting is good.
David Morrissey is excellent.

Brilliant drama. Thought the two sisters were excellent. Great story lines and fantastic acting. Didn't Stephen Tomkinson look different!

. Didn't Stephen Tomkinson look different!

He looked so different I didn't recognise him until DH said he played the vet in the series set in Africa. Amanda Holden played his wife!

Another twist I didn't see coming.

Doodledog Tue 21-Jun-22 22:03:50

That was really good, wasn't it?

Jane43 Tue 21-Jun-22 22:32:00

This is the best drama I have seen for some years. Great acting performances by a stellar cast.

Grannmarie Tue 21-Jun-22 23:27:01

I'm really enjoying this. So many real actors and an intriguing story line, facts of the past blending cleverly with the fiction of the present.
I like Lindsay Duncan. Was she in GBH with Robert Lindsay years ago? Or am I confused ? ? That was a great series too.

By golly this is good! So many familiar faces. They really have a stellar cast but a drama this good deserves one. Can't wait for the next episode.

Really good story lines. How good to have a drama without ad breaks to disrupt the tension.
Are there really only two more episodes? And it's not the sort of thing to have a sequel either I suppose A standalone gem.

I’ve watched three episodes so far and am enjoying it; excellent cast and acting is superb.

Perry Fitzpatrick who plays Rory Sparrow has an authentic accent as I believe he’s from Nottinghamshire.

I keep waiting for the ad breaks and I am always pleasantly surprised.

Good to see something so watchable on for a change.

Phillip Jackson who plays Mickey Sparrow has a very authentic accent too, I think.

Doodledog Fri 24-Jun-22 20:28:42

I realise that locals will spot the good and bad accents, but I can't say that I can.

I wonder if there will be another twist before the end? It crossed my mind that Gary might have been in on the spying. nobody would suspect him, as an NUM member. Purely a guess though.

Yes, he has.

I just couldn't get into sherlock.. the only one it seems........I should have persevered

Doodledog Fri 24-Jun-22 20:47:22

Maybe try again on iPlayer, lemsip?

I have sometimes found that I was put off a programme for some reason (usually me not paying attention at an important moment and missing something important), but gone on to love it when I gave it a second chance.

Yet another twist!
Very clever to get Robert Glenister's real son to play him in the 80s. They have the same eyes and mannerisms.

Callistemon21 Mon 27-Jun-22 22:04:45

I knew it! I said it to DH half an hour before ?

Grannmarie Mon 27-Jun-22 22:28:46

Well done, Callistemon, I didn't see that coming at all, great twist!

I am so used to binge watching drama, I can hardly wait till tomorrow night.

Callistemon21 Mon 27-Jun-22 22:34:34

DH always groans and asks if I write the scripts ?

Katek Tue 28-Jun-22 10:01:11

Phillip Jackson hails from Retford, Nottinghamshire hence the authentic accent.

I missed quite a bit of last nights episode as I had it set to record and of course it was switched to BBC2 and did not record. By the time I found out about the change I had missed about 20 minutes of it. Wish BBC had plus 1 hour.

Doodledog Tue 28-Jun-22 13:20:07

There's a good recap of the episode here Mazgg.

It was really annoying, last night. I did think to look on BBC2, but there was no warning, so I was muttering as I did so. I can't wait for the finale tonight.
