Anyone else watched this. It was suggested by a friend and ì am loving it. A detective series set in Bath with a twist with the two lead characters. They can be so funny at times. Gentle viewing for those who don't like heavy violence or any thing to complicated.

I've been enjoying The Brokenwood Mysteries, set in New Zealand. There are seven series available now but the 8th has just finished filming. I had to watch a couple to get into them. A mixture of comedy and drama with recurring characters popping up, which does make it amusing. A bit like Midsomer Murders and I've found them quite entertaining. I think they were on the Drama channel and I downloaded them.

I enjoy Brokenwood too Grandmasue. ?

I also love this show. It is soothing and gentle entertainment after a long day at work best enjoyed with a tea and piece of cake. I enjoy all detective shows - the csi type ones, and the serious ones like broadchurch and Sherwood and then the gentle English ones like father brown and Mcdonald and Dodds, I must see if there are any new episodes on catch up.

I like this too. Enjoyed the first one more than the second, but I’m a huge fan of Jason Watkins, so anything he’s in gets my vote.

If you like this try Tim Sullivan’s books.

Ta for tips anymore welcome. Nothing like a gentle detective drama...and mostly resolved endings!

I'm another Jason Watkins fan. Never seems to get the recognition he deserves but you can rely on him to be worth watching.

I was him in a play in Haymarket Theatre London with Susanne Jones. Extraordinary and unforgettable! Maybe it's better to be considered an 'also ran' (which he certainly is not) than to be hero worshipped by over enthusiastic fans which must be totally suffocating. He is SO talented and a joy to watch.

From his social media he seems utterly devoted to his family so perhaps avoiding the limelight suits him to a tee.

Another gentle, amusing and quirky (not to say completely off the wall!) detective series is Shakespeare and Hathaway. Some lovely shots of Stratford as well.

I do love gentle murder tv series. Shakespeare and Hathaway, Brokenwood, Morse, Lewis, New Tricks, etc. etc. Not forgetting the Daddy of them all - Midsomer.!!!

Just discovered this Mcdonald and Dodds and definitely enjoying them. Good to see a full team working on cases, rather than just the two in Midsomer Murders!!!
