Maybe because my Dad's family were seafarers for a few generations and I feel an affinity with the sea. Dad's family always contributed to the RNLI and I do too.
Most of the members are volunteers with other jobs. I wish now I had joined them when I was younger.
Mainly, there should be educational programmes to teach young folks especially about safety at sea - eg tides, sudden weather changes, health risks etc.

For light relief and brilliant acting can only reiterate Schitts Creek is brilliant.

Jane43 I’m now watching season three of For All Mankind, and am really enjoying it. It’s more exciting plus there’s less melodrama (apart from drippy Jimmy). Are you enjoying it any better?

Meryl. It's on BBC4 on Wednesday nights. I think there have been three so far but you may be able to catch up. This week's was Yosser's story. It was heartbreaking and Bernard Hill was superb.

grannydarkhair I suggest you keep going with season 2 of For All Mankind My DH says the final part is the best ever ending to a series he has ever watched. I am a little disappointed with series three however.

Jane43 I’m halfway through season one of All for Mankind. The concept is great, I’ve always been interested in space travel, one of my best memories is sitting with my now dearly departed older brother, watching Apollo 11 land and man take his first steps on the Moon. I remember being very tired in school later that day (hadn’t gone to bed at all) but incredibly excited as well. I’ve been disappointed for years that manned flights went no further.
But it isn’t gripping me the way I thought it would, don’t really know why. I’ll definitely watch the rest of this season, don’t know if I’ll bother with any more after that.

I enjoyed The Outer Range also Minimoons. Like you I’m waiting for the second series. Also Chernobyl was fantastic and riveting watching.
The Outlaws was fab.
I can’t believe nobody has yet mentioned Outlander and the main gorgeous character Jamie Fraser.

BigBertha
Did you know Anna was based on a true story.

MerylStreep Sat 16-Jul-22 22:37:49

Katie1949
Where is that on. The best tv ever. I loved it.

BigBertha1 Sat 16-Jul-22 22:33:09

Has anyone else watched the Mad Men series? It's about advertising in Manhattan in the 60's, absolutely fantastic - the acting, the fashion - and the social history.

Kate1949 Sat 16-Jul-22 13:59:47

Boys From The Black Stuff. Still as heart wrenching as it was the first time around.

HiPpyChick57 Sat 16-Jul-22 13:25:59

Anyone watched Outlander?
Fantastic series on Starz.

GrammarGrandma Wed 13-Jul-22 10:39:39

ER, The West Wing, Spiral, Brooklyn 99, Derry Girls and Call my Agent.

I’m waiting for Richard Osman’s ‘The Thursday Murder Club’ to be either serialised or made into a film. It’s a brilliant novel (so is the sequel). I can picture Helen Mirren, Judi Dench or Maggie Smith playing some of the characters.

TiggyW Wed 13-Jul-22 09:32:45

My list would also be very long, but my favourites include:
The Outlaws (currently)
Older programmes:
Poldark (the original version)
Auf Wiedersehen, Pet (brilliant)
Spiral
Inspector Montalbano (to learn Italian and views of Sicily)
Ripping Yarns
The Bridge
Springwatch, etc.
Julia Bradbury’s walks (I hope she’s recovering now)
Railway Walks
Great Train Journeys

Recently it’s been Stranger Things for me, my DGS suggested I watch it and I was hooked. Can’t wait for the next series, it will be a long wait.

Diggingdoris Tue 12-Jul-22 19:25:49

I'm a silent witness fan. I'm presently working my way through them from season one.
Then my other favourite is Doctors. Informative, amusing and loveable characters.

grannydarkhair Tue 12-Jul-22 18:20:18

Purplepoppies Have you seen Henry Cavill in Witcher? Or Travis Fimmel in Vikings? Now, there’re both magnificent eye candy. And yes, I know that’s sexist.

Shizam Tue 12-Jul-22 18:17:48

The Outlaws, two series of it on Iplayer , is terrific. Brilliant cast, written by and starring stephen merchant. Funny and cleverly plotted. Bristol is also the star of it.

Also on iplayer, Back to Life, wry comedy written by and starring Daisy Haggard of her character returning to life outside after a prison stretch. Kent coast looks great in it too!

Mollygo Tue 12-Jul-22 18:16:19

I like gentle mysteries like Father Brown and Death in Paradise and I’m fascinated by the number of people who don’t know what food is, on Nothing to Declare. The program about lost families is sometimes so sad.

Purplepoppies Tue 12-Jul-22 17:36:51

If you havent tried Justified (prime I think) that's one hell of a show with some decent eye candy ?
I really enjoyed Preacher too.
