Maybe because my Dad's family were seafarers for a few generations and I feel an affinity with the sea. Dad's family always contributed to the RNLI and I do too.
Most of the members are volunteers with other jobs. I wish now I had joined them when I was younger.
Mainly, there should be educational programmes to teach young folks especially about safety at sea - eg tides, sudden weather changes, health risks etc.

I am an avid supporter of the RNLI and always have been and they do a wonderful job risking their own lives.
I do agree there should be some life skills lessons to inform and educate young people of the real danger at sea. Even on the sea shore with tides and currents and just common sense information would be helpful.

I’m watching Yellowstone and 1883 I like Kevin Costner. Oh and Undeclared War on ch4.

Better Call Saul. The last 6 episodes start on Netflix this week. Sadly then the whole Breaking Bad/BCS sag ends, most probably.
Just one of the best tv series ever.

1883.. Just finished watching.
Quite took my breath away at times. I knew life was tough but what those early settlers had to do to reach their "forever home" unbelievable.

Visgirl I'm in the middle of series 2 and so enjoying it. They had it tough for sure, I did wonder why 'Sam' spoke such perfect English though?

tanith Mon 11-Jul-22 11:40:20

I meant to 1883 isnt even that long ago either ?

a bit off-topic but i love stranger things

I like Stranger Things, too, but I am genuinely scared of the monster and have to look at it between my fingers! (Too many TEETH!). Just about to start on Series 4.

PinkCosmos Mon 11-Jul-22 13:30:54

Night Sky on Amazon with Sissy Spacek. A bit sci-fi but more about the old couple.

Better Call Saul - better than Breaking Bad in my opinion

Stranger Things - started watching this because of all the ooh haa about it but struggling and finding it a bit boring. Currently half way through series 2. Not sure what I expected really

Wolf Like Me (Amazon) is really good

Binge watched Stranger Things, couldn’t wait until July 1st for the final series although the last episode was almost feature film in length it flew by and it was I found, quite emotional.
Now I’m struggling to find something new.

We’re working through all the series of Spiral on iPlayer. It’s French with subtitles, but it doesn’t detract from the programme at all.

grannydarkhair Mon 11-Jul-22 18:44:58

maddyone Spiral is excellent. I love that they’re all so “human”, there’s not one of them that isn’t duplicitous in some way. Gilou is my favourite, he’s a wonderfully written and acted character.

MiniMoon Mon 11-Jul-22 19:43:00

PinkCosmos I loved Wolf Like Me and can't wait for a second series.
Both DH and I enjoyed Outer Range on Amazon Prime. We are awaiting a second season of this too.
Disney + is currently showing Ms Marvel. New episodes every Wednesday.
It's a super hero story with a difference.

MerylStreep Mon 11-Jul-22 19:51:25

Schitts Creek every time. We are on our 3rd time of viewing the series. ??

hollysteers Mon 11-Jul-22 19:58:26

Just finished “Conversations with Friends”. Rather slow and disconcerting for me as the leading actress looks like my granddaughter. She had an affair with an older man…

ShazzaKanazza Mon 11-Jul-22 20:16:20

MerylStreep we absolutely adore Schitts Creek we have just watched it through for the third time too.
We loved Stranger Things. It was much scarier this time.

Girl in the Picture (Netflix) - tried to watch it - so confusing - does anyone know what it’s all about ?

Urmstongran Mon 11-Jul-22 21:15:40

“It’s a Sin” a drama on Netflix. I’ve just watched Ep.1. My daughter texted to recommend it. Think there are 5x one hour episodes. The sad story of the explosion of HIV/Aids in the early 80’s, the fear as it unfolds in the newspapers.

I watched it yesterday and was open mouthed at the twists and turns it took.

It's all about finding out who the dead woman really was - needless to say the name given at the time of her death wasn't her real name, and there was quite the backstory to it.

I was transfixed by it, although I had to rewind a few times to work out where we were in the timeline.

Charleygirl5 Tue 12-Jul-22 07:48:12

I have never heard of any of those programmes, not having Netflix or anything other than Freeview.

Now that the tennis has finished I will be saving money by not switching my TV on.

Alioop Tue 12-Jul-22 12:03:30

I'm enjoying The Blacklist and The Wanted. I recorded both last night so a nice afternoon ahead catching up on them.

farmgran Tue 12-Jul-22 12:07:48

Really enjoying 'this is going to hurt'.
I can see I'm going to have to buy the book.

ALANaV Tue 12-Jul-22 12:07:49

Undeclared War...... very interesting ...just wish it hadn't ended with episode 6 (on catch up) ....also agree with Saving Lives at Sea as I live near the coast ...my only angry response is to the mostly young, individuals who jump off the rocks into the sea and then need the services of the lifeboat to rescue them ..and the ambulance and health service ! WHAT part of 'Do not climb on the dangerous rocks or jump from the jetty ! ......unbelievably selfish when others may be needing an ambulance which will not be available ! They should be made to PAY ...........RANT OVER !
