Is anybody else watching the death throes of Neighbours?

They are trying to tie up all loose ends and bringing back as many of the old cast as they can fit in. It is really laughable!

Thanks Anniebach.

Near the end, he is sitting down

nadateturbe Mon 01-Aug-22 16:04:44

Possibly Anniebach, I might have missed it.
I'll have another look when I'm home. (at the van)

Wasn’t Lou shown as a ghost ?

nadateturbe Mon 01-Aug-22 12:55:49

Had forgotten about Lou and Harold, yes would have been good but I suppose it was impossible to include everyone.

Out shopping, thought I must watch the time, get home for Neighbours and then remembered ...

I was disappointed not to see Lou Carpenter in the final episode, having a final dig at Harold "Jelly belly" Bishop!

It was sad to see a programme from childhood end. Jane looks lovely and natural. Very nicely dressed. Glad she found happiness.

Agree with both posts Chestnut.

Not worth a reply really.

I found this dismissive comment pretty offensive.
And why should I comment after all these years ?
Why not?

Chestnut Sun 31-Jul-22 17:15:37

No hostility nor has anyone taken personal offence. Just amazed that you would bother to criticise something you haven't watched in 30 years.

snowberryZ Sun 31-Jul-22 17:13:14

Poor Jane has aged badly. Must be the ozzie sun!

MawtheMerrier Sun 31-Jul-22 17:12:09

Why what?
I was curious to see how characters might have changed or relationships evolved - The Archers has been going since time immemorial - but honestly this was only marginally less bad than Dallas being “all a dream”.
I am equally amazed and amused at the hostility my opinion has aroused.
It is only a soap after all, , nobody need take personal offence!

Chestnut Sun 31-Jul-22 17:09:22

MawtheMerrier

Knew it ? ? ?
It’s not real you know!

No-one said it was real! It's just a soap but one that some people had been following.

Chestnut Sun 31-Jul-22 17:08:20

Absolutely flump! I hate the aggression in British soaps, and the way they talk to each other, as though they dislike each other. Even when they're not arguing they sound miserable and unfriendly. Home and Away is equally frothy and soapsy with plenty of bubbles!

Anniebach Sun 31-Jul-22 17:06:13

Maw why ?

MawtheMerrier Sun 31-Jul-22 17:04:58

Knew it ? ? ?
It’s not real you know!

Agree Chestnut.

I think the actor who played Hendrix had decided he wanted to leave before Channel 5 decided to withdraw financial help, so a storyline had been written for him.

I've watched since it started and would rather see something 'lighter' than Eastenders or Coronation Street which always seem to have characters arguing or fighting whenever I come across them.

Chestnut Sun 31-Jul-22 16:35:33

I'm not sure how anyone can criticise something they haven't watched for 30 years! You can't jump in at the end and expect to recognise people and understand what is happening. The final episode was created for us to see as many people as possible at the same time, and to round it off in a feel good way. In that I think it succeeded. It even managed to include clips of old episodes which was nice.

Not worth a reply really.

Franbern Sun 31-Jul-22 16:07:20

Maw not sure what you meant by writing Karl Kennedy - Really? Yes, it really was same actor as always, Sadly, he has been stricken by a sudden illness earlier this year that has caused him to lose ALL his body hair (in real life). They covered this with a story line at the time, but he bravely decided to continue in the role to the bitter end

As for the other story lines being tenuous - what on earth do you mean. You admit you have not watched for many years - thougt the scriptwriters did an excellent job, giving all their faithful viewers a good ending AND space for a (maybe) continuation sometime in the future.,

Anniebach Sun 31-Jul-22 15:56:57

If you haven’t watched it for 30 years Maw how can you
criticise the story lines ?

MawtheMerrier Sun 31-Jul-22 15:52:47

I will be shot down in ? ? but “death throes”: is all too apt - and I couldn’t wait for it to be put out of its misery.
To be fair I haven’t watched Neighbours for about 30 years so I spent most of the final episode trying to work out who was who (Carl Kennedy - really?) but sadly found myself caring even less.
The set looked more cardboard than Crossroads and the tenuous storyline held nothing together.
Oh dear.

Alioop Sun 31-Jul-22 14:59:20

I've watched it from the start, homework had to always be finished before I was allowed to turn the TV on. I'll miss it, so many characters through the years, it was great to see a lot of them again. I'd a crush on Mike back in the day so it was great to see him return for the finale. I'd of gladly jumped on the back of his motorbike.
