The Archers - first couple in the world to have twin babies

I have been listening, with increasing annoyance,to the silly storyline about the coming birth of the twins.
They seem to be approaching this as if this couple, with so much local family support, etc are the first couple ever to give birth to twins
The fuss that Natasha has been making before they have actually been born is incredible. Perhaps they should have joined their local Twins Club where they would have met so many other parent who have had two or more babies in one go.

I think I like Lillian because there are flashes of real kindness amongst the nonsense. And she would be good to go for a drink with.

Linda Snell seems to have been on the back burner a bit lately. I'll miss her acerbic snobbery at Grey Gables.

Farzanah Mon 25-Jul-22 19:40:57

Wasn’t Linda having a go at Adil, who is staying at her B&B a few days ago Chewbacca? Him of the soon to be “new” Grey Gables, and future love interest of Kirsty……….
So boooring. Most of tonight’s episode about an olive stone in a pizza.

Yes Linda has nt been keen on Adil. I can’t see Adol and Kirsty as a couple though maybe another mixed marriage is needed fir the storyline.
I always hoped Roy and Kirsty would get together. They seem well matched and Kirsty needs someone reliable after Tom and her Welsh husband. Gavin? Or was that his son? Anyway, she and Roy both deserve some happiness.
Not sure if Adil will suit her.
Yes I do know this is fiction grin

Yes but it’s still addictive just because it there, isn’t it? And…those naughty ladies at the post box, what have they done!?

Farzanah Wed 27-Jul-22 09:32:43

It’s not them dogsmother it’s that burgeoning bully George.

Chewbacca Wed 27-Jul-22 13:01:13

I just can't see Kirsty and Adil as a couple; she's a kind and gentle soul, much battered by previous love interests, whilst he's a hard driven, fairly ruthless businessman. As for Roy and Amy..... that's a match made in purgatory! Kirsty and Roy should get it together.

eGJ Wed 27-Jul-22 13:45:45

Another vote for Roy and Kirsty!
I am also appalled by how George is developing; someone should let Eddie and Clarrie know!!

Farzanah Wed 27-Jul-22 15:33:16

Nah. Adil will settle into the village and realise the error of his ways, leaving his capitalist business empire behind.
He will discover the charms of the countryside, and Kirsty, and they will live happily ever after.
Mark my words ?

It looks as if George may fill the "bad guy" slot. They would have to go a long way to have a character like Nelson Gabriel (Walter's son). He was a skillfully balanced, likeable rogue. If my memory serves me right, he found it hard to settle after a war, which he spent in the RAF. Then there was the antique dealing and suspect in the mail van robbery. He was an all-time great character.

I have a feeling there will be little "likeable" about George.

Can’t see Peggy managing to get a faculty for the window!

Elrel Sun 31-Jul-22 20:50:19

Justin seems to been have taken over by the spirit of Johnson when it comes to answering direct questions!

Must say that when I had my twins, if someone had said they wanted to spend money on a stained glass window for them I would have politely declined, saying that - perhaps something like an ISA etc for them would have more long-lasting use.!!!!

Maybe that is just me!!!!!!!!

eGJ Tue 02-Aug-22 14:19:11

Can anyone else see any difference between, old Grey Gables and the new vision? Ambridge people worked there, local produce was used, events for Borsetshire happened on the premises. How will Elizabeth fare against Adil’s ideas. It is getting a bit tiresome, but not giving up YET, but thinking of it - anyone else a bit weary of this long loved programme?

Farzanah Tue 02-Aug-22 15:36:30

Yes I was thinking that eGJ, a complex way to introduce a new diverse character who will metamorphose from baddy to beloved by all even Linda (especially Kirsty) ? Mark my words.

Peartree Tue 02-Aug-22 15:46:49

I hope Kirsty and Roy dont get together he is a twit. I also thought giving the money to the twins would be better than a stained glass window but if you have alot of money and find comfort in the church then its your choice.
Cant stand Justin he seems to do bad things just for the sake of it. I like lillian though.

I’ve never liked Peggy. She’s a selfish old biddy who uses her money to control her family even if it divides them.

I prefer Jill, who won’t rest until her entire family has succumbed to Type2 diabetes. ?

Galaxy Wed 03-Aug-22 14:57:54

Yes I am jealous of the Brookfield lot and their endless supply of cakes.

eGJ Wed 03-Aug-22 18:38:02

Does St Stephen’s NEED a new window? We’ve not heard anything about it and an odd thing to do. She will need to talk to Alan and the PCC before anything at all can go ahead!
Cakes have always been mentioned, but Rosie’s weight appeared out of the nowhere. Lots of senarios are getting wearisome.

As a long time Lilian fan, I recall an Any Questions broadcast many years ago (obviously) when the final, light-hearted question was which member of the cast of the Archers panellists would like to be. One of the men on the panel simply said "Whoever marries Lilian Archer".

vegansrock Thu 04-Aug-22 05:27:53

I thought it rather divisive dedicating a window to your new great grandchildren and not for the others.

Is this what all the fuss about the twins has been building up to?

Scribbles Thu 04-Aug-22 08:31:02

@ eGJ - Sadly, I think I'm on the edge of giving up on The Archers after a lifetime of listening. The storylines get sillier; new characters are unlikeable; established characters suffer personality transplants for no particular reason. It's only habit that keeps me listening each night. I suspect that when I go on holiday next month the habit will be broken.

utterbliss Thu 04-Aug-22 08:45:39

I wondered if anyone else found it very difficult to listen to

Justin voice? The actor Simon Williams poor man must be

having problems. It just makes me want to clear my throat all

the time. Perhaps it is time for him to retire?

eGJ Thu 04-Aug-22 19:33:38

Perhaps it’s the emotion he has to channel over poor Ruby!
