An ad has just flashed up on my phone offering a Private Screening at my local Cineworld Cinema for up to 100 people of my choosing for £120. So a bit like a birthday bowling/ trampolining/ soft play party for a child - but for grown ups.
So it got me thinking - I don’t actually have 100 friends sad so it might be fewer, but what film would I choose ?
While I am thinking - what film was your BEST EVER which you would like to share on a special occasion?
(Presumably the popcorn ? is included )

There's only one film called 3 Godfathers. It's with John Wayne. I haven't heard of any other remakes

God how I loved John Travolta back in the day

I remember first seeing him in that film about the boy in the bubble.

Mumtoni Wed 07-Sept-22 21:14:31

It's got to be fluke
..the dad dies n comes back as a dog n tries to let his family know, they get it in the end, it's sad but heartwarming

Yes, BridgetPark - yet another great film!

But I confess I also like action ? films! I love the original Bourne ones! My family joke about it as they are always popping up on the TV and of course I watch them again!

NotSpaghetti Wed 07-Sept-22 20:45:42

Yes wicklowwinnie. It's conflicting emotions that make the best dramas. ?

Blinko Wed 07-Sept-22 20:36:54

Oh, must add Witness for the Prosecution. Charles Lawton and Elsa Lanchester and of course Marlene.

You have reminded me of so many films I’ve loved, such as Brief Encounter, Rebecca, Zulu etc.

Two I really loved in the 80s and then bought on DVD so I could keep watching were Someone to Watch over Me, a romance/ thriller with Mimi Rodgers and Tom Berenger, and Desperately Seeking Susan which I enjoyed for the roles of Rosanna Arquette and Aidan Quinn as romantic leads rather than Madonna who got all the glory. Does anyone else remember either of those?

Lesley60 The Champ was so sad, that little boys face ? I remember my my mum, my sis and I sharing a box of tissues watching it.

Three of my favourite tearjerkers:

Ghost
Hachi, a Dog’s Tale
Sophie’s Choice

No matter how many times I’ve seen them, they get me every time ?

Nannyknee Wed 07-Sept-22 20:10:43

The Greatest Showman, just love that film

JennyRobert Wed 07-Sept-22 20:05:44

Calamity Jane and Casablanca equal 1st

Greyduster Wed 07-Sept-22 19:59:56

Guess Whose Coming to Dinner;
In the Heat of the Night.
Fabulous casting in both films, but you’d have to go some to beat Hepburn and Tracey.

Having been an avid filmgoer for 93 years it is difficult for me to choose. Gone with the wind, Brief Encounter, Jean de Florette, Manon. le Chateau de ma Mere, and many Cary Grant films. The latest remakes are never as good as the originals I am not keen on musicals or horror.
