Your best film ever?

An ad has just flashed up on my phone offering a Private Screening at my local Cineworld Cinema for up to 100 people of my choosing for £120. So a bit like a birthday bowling/ trampolining/ soft play party for a child - but for grown ups.
So it got me thinking - I don’t actually have 100 friends sad so it might be fewer, but what film would I choose ?
While I am thinking - what film was your BEST EVER which you would like to share on a special occasion?
(Presumably the popcorn ? is included )

I love some of these too but my absolute favourite is To Sir with Love with the marvellous Sidney Poitier . I always cry!

Loved him in the Mr Tibbs films too.

I loved all the old black and white films. Watched every Saturday afternoon with my mum. All the old weepies, loved the strength of Katherine Hepburn and Bette Davis. One of my all time favourites is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

Some like it hot and ‘Stardust’ are my favourites

‘Some Like it Hot’ is on my list too, it was on TV again a few weeks ago and I dropped everything to sit and watch it again, never get tired of it.

I also love Saturday Night Fever, I queued for ages to get into the pictures to see it & have watched it many times since.

Angels with dirty faces with James Cagney and Pat O'Brien.

Namsnanny Wed 07-Sept-22 10:34:07

Too many to just pick one but The Night of the Hunter isnt around much so I'd probably choose that.
Or,
Notes on a Scandal
The Talented Mr Ripley
The Last Of the Mohicans, the remake is fantastic on a big screen, and the score is a wonderfully rousing. So maybe?.....

Does anyone remember the Gilliam film, Jabberwocky?

I saw it in 1977 and thought it hilarious. I haven't seen it since. I remember the Jabberwock as a giant chicken creature.

‘Where Eagles Dare’ , good plot, great actors and cracking music.

‘Broadsword calling Danny Boy. Come in Danny Boy’

I am a fan of light hearted films, I would like to add the ditsy Doris Day films, Pillow Talk, Please don’t eat the daisies, Move over Darling etc.

LRavenscroft Wed 07-Sept-22 09:21:35

Brief encounter, Waterloo Bridge, Casablanca, the Hitchcock movies, The Wizard of Oz. anything with Carrie Grant such as My Girl Friday. Why? Because I love a glimpse into the past as to how people thought and how things were done at the time.
