I like Keeley Hawes. I wonder what this new drama will be like?

Just finished binge watching this. I enjoyed it on the whole, made a change from the usual detective dramas.

I’ve just binge watched it. A fair bit of violence in it, and lots and lots of tension! But some interesting backstories. I thought Keeley Hawes was very good in the role.

I gave up halfway through tonight's episode. I will retire to bed to read my book.

Watching part 2 now, they are still running round with guns down grey and dingy corridors...its very repetitive and I wish I had watched dear old doc martin instead. Just waiting fir the next person to get shot, this doesn't get my vote.
Am off on our first holiday in over 3 years in a few days time to a nice hopefully peaceful hotel in the sunshine. ...am switching off now.

We’re watching part 2 keeping us quiet.

I've watched two now. Pretty good as an unusual thriller - sort of 3 out of 5?.

But my sister reminded me there is a new Van De Valk series on, now THAT is good.

Just started final episode. Not bad at all

Watched the 3rd part straight after the 2nd as will be out this evening. Not the best drama but needed to know how it ended.
Have had many holidays in Tenerife where it was filmed so interesting to see from that point of view. The hotel used was near where our apartment was. The BBC must have paid them a fortune for it to be filmed there. Don't think it did the tourist trade any favours!

I was looking forward to this but found it very disappointing. The characters were not very nice in the main and a lot of it was implausible. Too many corridors, a lot of violence and anyone going off for a holiday soon had better take notes! Is it likely that Lee Ingleby would spend ages reading the sexy texts on his wife's phone whilst people were being shot all around him. People were using their mobile phones to ring their loved ones thus alerting any gun toting terrorist nearby. A friend is asked to take two young children to safety but he loses them when he helps a woman (with her husband) struggling to walk down a small grassy incline. In short I think the plot line was poor, most of the characters were unpleasant or pathetic and I won't be watching parts 2 and 3 because I don't care enough to see what happens !!

A new Van der Valk, now that something we would watch. Is it ITV? TIA

I thought it was a load of rubbish, and quite disrespectful to those who had been caught up in a similar real life incident not that long ago in Tunisia.

MargotLedbetter Thu 22-Sept-22 11:11:10

It was dreadful. People making stupid decisions in order that the plot could be spun out. Keeley Hawes and all the other women turning to jelly and going all helpless and dependent and incompetent.

I didn't believe in a single one of those marriages and I didn't like any of the characters except for Josette Simon as the doctor. It was worse even than the one set in the submarine.

Zoejory Thu 22-Sept-22 11:35:34

Smudgie, you have made me laugh for real. We were saying exactly the same thing about the chap reading the texts from his wife's lover/not lover. As if you'd be bothered when people are being shot all over the show.

We watched the third and final episode and I got lost. No idea what was going on.

I also agree that the characters were rather unlikeable but some of the women's outfits were wonderful. I ended up googling where they were from but ended up disappointed as I couldn't find anything.

So all in all it was rather good, then mediocre and then rubbish.

Hated episode 1, but have just watched the rest, and thought ep 3 was done well.

We watched that so that we could pick out all the inaccuracies and and criticise it, MargotLedbetter!

Blinko, my sis told me about Van de Valk, but she got it wrong, because I just checked and it must be a repeat of August's episodes. (droops with disappointment). They are making a third series.

Looking at the phone when shooting was happening..actually I found that bit credible..... he got hold of the phone to ring her, then saw a text up....so shocking momentarily stopped to read..I don't think the Dad would have left the children tho once they got outside.

Well I only lasted two episodes of the submarine series, as I thought they were overheating the plot. And I decided not to watch this one, having heard too many negative comments. Life is too short to watch something you won't enjoy.

I binge watched after DH and I watched first episode - he found the time shifts confusing I enjoyed it

I have finally managed to watch Part 3, the last half, and I know others thought it rubbish but I found it very moving.

henetha Fri 23-Sept-22 10:58:06

I liked it better than I thought I would and found it quite gripping.

Cheers, Wyllow. thanks for clarifying. I was quite excited for a minute...
