Karen Pirie

I'm looking forward to it. I'm a big Val McDiarmid fan. I have read the book but totally forgot who the murderer is.

I can't remember much about any of them either, other than that I enjoyed them .

Settling down (with wine) to watch it now. I’m a fan of Val’s writing too.

I have my knitting and a glass of fizz all ready too. I hope it lives up to expectations - a lot of recent dramas have been a let down.

I like some of Val McDermid's writing but not the Karen Pirie series. I found it a bit weak. I will watch tonight to see how it goes.

I thought I hadn’t read the book, but as the story unfolded, I re breed I had. The beginning seemed to drag, but the end was rushed. I’m not sure it was the end. Will it be expanded on next time?

I assumed there would be another episode. There is another in the series (at least), as two episodes showed up when I set it to series record. I hope there is a better resolution and the next one isn't a new story.

Not read any of the books but really enjoyed it tonight and didn’t fall asleep so it must have been good

I fell asleep but I got the gist. Not very engaging I thought he'd up with murders on TV.

I've read several of the Karen Pirie books. They're not among McDermid's psychological thrillers. I prefer to avoid those as I'm not keen on that kind of suspense.(wimp!)
This seems to be going along quite well. The end of the first episode was a good cliffhanger. I recognised St Andrews right away, so that did help to get me 'hooked'

The lead character (Karen Pirie!) is not how I'd pictured her at all, but that was true of Tony Hill in the Wire In The Blood series, and after a few episodes I was thinking of the character as Robson Green, so this might go the same way.

Apparently it is in 3 parts. I read a review in the Guardian which said it continues to be good. One of the things they mentioned was that the main character is ‘normal’, ie not tortured, with a dark secret, an alcohol problem or marital troubles. I hadn’t really thought of that, but it does make a nice change .

Although Karen wasn't as I'd imagined from reading the book, the Mint was spot on.

Bit disappointed, read the book a couple of weeks ago and so many changes already. Will be really upset if they change the murderer. Karen was also not as imagined, but will see it through to the end.
