“Fed up with murders on tv”

Me too!

Mollygo Sun 25-Sept-22 22:49:46

Had to record it to watch later, but I like Val McDermid’s books.

I've read several of the Karen Pirie books. They're not among McDermid's psychological thrillers. I prefer to avoid those as I'm not keen on that kind of suspense.(wimp!)
This seems to be going along quite well. The end of the first episode was a good cliffhanger. I recognised St Andrews right away, so that did help to get me 'hooked'

Fed up with murders on TV!!

BigBertha1 Sun 25-Sept-22 22:31:55

I fell asleep but I got the gist. Not very engaging I thought he'd up with murders on TV.

BlueBelle Sun 25-Sept-22 22:29:17

Not read any of the books but really enjoyed it tonight and didn’t fall asleep so it must have been good

I assumed there would be another episode. There is another in the series (at least), as two episodes showed up when I set it to series record. I hope there is a better resolution and the next one isn't a new story.

Remembered…not re breed.

Blinko Sun 25-Sept-22 22:25:45

I thought I hadn’t read the book, but as the story unfolded, I re breed I had. The beginning seemed to drag, but the end was rushed. I’m not sure it was the end. Will it be expanded on next time? confused

I like some of Val McDermid's writing but not the Karen Pirie series. I found it a bit weak. I will watch tonight to see how it goes.

Doodledog Sun 25-Sept-22 20:36:24

Oh, I'm enjoying it so far.

Aveline Sun 25-Sept-22 20:34:38

Och. Was looking forward to it but found it too irritating somehow. Have given up on it.

SachaMac Sun 25-Sept-22 20:12:01

I meant a drink not drunk ?

Doodledog Sun 25-Sept-22 20:09:38

The weather here is awful, and my signal is cutting in and out ?. I hope it settles down before anything important happens.

SachaMac Sun 25-Sept-22 20:09:11

Yes just put the fire on, got a drunk and watching

Doodledog Sun 25-Sept-22 19:59:02

I have my knitting and a glass of fizz all ready too. I hope it lives up to expectations - a lot of recent dramas have been a let down.

Georgesgran Sun 25-Sept-22 19:53:56

Settling down (with wine) to watch it now. I’m a fan of Val’s writing too.

Doodledog Sun 25-Sept-22 19:50:46

I can't remember much about any of them either, other than that I enjoyed them grin.

Grandmabatty Sun 25-Sept-22 19:48:28

I'm looking forward to it. I'm a big Val McDiarmid fan. I have read the book but totally forgot who the murderer is.

Doodledog Sun 25-Sept-22 19:47:17

A new series adapted from books by Val McDermid starts tonight on ITV. I've read the books and enjoyed them, so am looking forward to the series.

The main character is much younger than I'd imagined - in the trailer a crime from 1996 is mentioned, and Karen says she was three - the same age as my daughter. All the same, if this is as good as Wire in the Blood was (or Touching Evil) it will be worth a watch.

Is anyone else in?
