I have come to the end of my Netflix list so need some tv series ideas to watch with DH. Recently we've been watching a lot of heavy crime drama (The Missing, Line of Duty etc) so would like something lighter for a change but not necessarily comedy. Any ideas? Otherwise it's back to the West Wing for the umpteenth time smile

We are also currently watching Dead to Me. It is actually very funny. A bit different from our usual genre but worth watching.

PinkCosmos

I enjoyed 'Dead to Me'. It's a black comedy with Christina Applegate. It is set in California and about two grieving women who bond through therapy.

That doesn't make it sound very funny but it is typical American witty black humour.

There are two series of 10 one hour episodes.

Thanks for this recommendation, PinkCosmos. Am on episode 10 of this series and loving it. Both actresses, Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini are fantastic.

The episodes are only around 30 minutes each so easy to watch 2 or 3 (or more!) at a time.

I've just finished watching The Empress which is "a fictionalised version of the teenage years of Empress Elisabeth (Sisi) of Austria". It's in German with subtitles.
I loved the fact that the excellent foreign cast are all unfamiliar so I didn't keep thinking " What was he/she in?"
The locations and costumes are a feast for the eyes although some of the candlelit scenes had me peering through the gloom.
Incidentally, poor Sisi had a nightmare MiL. It would have made a great thread for Gransnet!

If you have an open mind Uncoupling is very good - serious at times but also very funny at others.

I have just started watching Firefly Lane - looks quite good so far.
