It has been bad for weeks, buffering terribly on my Sony tv(3years old!) I find now I have to watch it on my iPad where there isn’t a problem.. so frustrating ?‍♀️… I went on to trust pilot and it appears I am not alone..

Have you tried the other streaming channels.
It’s probably your internet speed. They do slow it sometimes ?

Have just watched two of the first episodes ever of Emmerdale on my iPad no problem at all..

Panko Mon 17-Oct-22 00:04:35

I've had the same problem with ITV Hub and eventually gave up after exhausting all suggested remedies. More4 and iPlayer is far less troublesome with no buffering at all.

Mainly fine on my Mac Lap Top: just sometimes it jumps in series to the wrong episode: sound, image fine. (Not a patch on BBC I player tho). BTW, I often watch films from Film 4 this way or other live Channels like My5 and so on.

I agree the other channels are fine it’s just the ITV Hub and it’s only on the TV it’s fine on the iPad..

ITVhub is terrible. All4 not much better. They worked well when I watched catch-up TV via my humax satellite receiver, but since that died and we linked the satellite cables directly into the TV, they keep buffering and crashing. I don't know if we don't have fast enough broadband speed, but Ihave no idea how to test that, or what to do about it if that is the problem.

Shinamae Mon 17-Oct-22 09:37:02

These are my speeds and to be honest I’m not sure whether they’re good or bad but Jurassic Fibre is very good so I expect they are pretty good.. i’m sure some wise person will enlighten me..?

I had an email informing me that I would no longer be able to access the ITV hub on my devices, and to try itv.com on my laptop. They were right, I now can't watch ITV on demand or catch up on my TV via the set top Freeview box, which is not new but by no means ancient. I had to watch Doc Martin on my laptop last week, which was OK but not as convenient as on TV.

I had a Samsung Smart TV for about 7 years and now it seems unable since end of September to watch ITV Hub for catch-up. How annoying when thousands of people have TVs for longer than 7 years and yet are now out of date and there is no way to adapt TV to accommodate this. I never watch on laptop.

Call your provider. When I was with virgin I knew when they had cut down on the speed. Low and behold it came back to normal after the call. Strange that they said nothing was wrong with the speed ?

This might help.

I also received the email from ITV HUB informing us that our 7 year old Samsung SMART TV would no longer receive ITV HUB after 22 September.
I also feel that this is wrong, particularly at this time. Not everyone can afford to replace these things.
We consulted our local independent TV shop, where we bought the Samsung, and were pointed in the direction of an A****N firestick .. comes with a remote, slots into the back of the TV and should enable ITV HUB.
I believe it basically gives a standard TV "smart" function.
We await a visit from the shop to help us with installation.
Now I discover the same has happened with our BT TV box used with the TV in another room. Wonder if we need to get a new BTTV box ....
I find all this stuff so draining.

Thanks grannyj that is helpful. So annoying isn’t it?

Forsythia Tue 25-Oct-22 09:38:58

That is helpful. We were also told our Panasonic TV no longer would work with ITV. I’ll look into this fire stick.

VB000 Tue 25-Oct-22 10:25:47

Just had a look on line and it looks pretty straightforward to install a Firestick - firesticktricks.com reckon just 5 minutes! There are step by step instructions - just need an Amazon account and internet. Hope this helps.

Oh for the days when you just bought a tv, connected it to the aerial and turned it on!!!! lol smile

Farzanah Tue 25-Oct-22 13:18:25

Does it have to be Amazon I wonder which I don’t use?

MerylStreep Tue 25-Oct-22 13:28:14

Farzanah
You might not want an Amazon fire stick but they have a great customer service where they will spend ages taking you through tech stuff.
We had a problem with our Alexa. They spent 45 minutes on the phone with us. They sorted the problem ?

Farzanah Tue 25-Oct-22 13:31:15

That’s interesting MerylS. I just don’t like the company but good to know their techs are helpful. May have to resort to them if no other solution, as I do for Kindle books.

Visgir1 Tue 25-Oct-22 16:23:45

As others said use a Fire stick, I have then on older TVs in spare bedrooms.
My Samsung is over 7 years old, won't take Disney either so I use one for that. So when ITV gave their announcement we just watch via that. Its so much better as ITV Hub was dreadful compared to BBC service.
Cheap as well.

Technology is getting beyond our understanding, but when you think of all the channels and the options we have I suppose that's the price you pay. Back in the old days we had 3 channels and no catch up, you watched it at the time or not at all. That's the price you pay for simplicity, no choice.

I tried to catch up with Emmerdale tonight on my TV on ITV Hub the only one they had on there was last Thursday! I went on my iPad and managed to watch Fridays and Mondays. I don’t know what is going on with the hub on the TV but it is very annoying. ?…..

harrigran Wed 26-Oct-22 00:40:28

ITV hub won't work on my TVs, it said they were no longer compatible and to try and find Nother device.I have previously watched on my laptop.

Shinamae Sat 29-Oct-22 19:51:50

Just getting worse and worse on my TV,can only catch up with Emmerdale on my iPad..
