I can’t see another thread so apologies if there is
After years of not bothering with “I m a celebrity get me out of here” I decided to have a look as I like Boy George
And I have to say I m in now so will need to keep watching this ridiculously daft programme even if it’s just to combat the depressing days
Anyway what do you all think ?

maddyone Fri 11-Nov-22 10:46:17

Ahh, I see. Thank you Chestnut. Of course, no body else in the world has affairs do they grin

FannyCornforth Fri 11-Nov-22 10:50:54

Maddy please see my comment about Walsh upthread (hello btw smile)

OnwardandUpward Fri 11-Nov-22 22:16:05

I'm not a fan of Sean Walsh and think he's kind of notorious for being a cheater but I wouldn't call him a celebrity just for appearing on Strictly. (Unless he's famous for something else???)

My favourite people are Mike, Jill, Owen, Sue and Babatunde. I don't mind if any of those win. Owen is kind of clueless, but seems genuinely nice and Mike, Jill, Owen and Sue seem really grounded and decent people.

Zoejory Fri 11-Nov-22 22:21:17

Sean is a comedian. That's his claim to fame. He wasn't hugely well known.

There's a bunch of reasonable people there this year.

Owen is very sweet.

OnwardandUpward Fri 11-Nov-22 22:47:20

Ohhhh I wouldnt have guessed! I thought Matt was funnier! grin and he's not even funny.

I'm a bit disappointed that it was quite boring again tonight. I think Matt being in there has ruined any potential entertainment.

Joane123 Fri 11-Nov-22 22:55:20

I really wish Chris Moyles (is that his name) would be given a trial. I don't like him at all.
Matt is doing well and I actually like him.

Zoejory Fri 11-Nov-22 23:08:45

I think Matt had provided the most entertainment!

I have gone right off Boy George and as for Chris Moyles! I liked him as a DJ but he's turned into a disappointing waste of space. Gone right off him

Mike is good fun and football girl whose name I shall remember one day

Chestnut Fri 11-Nov-22 23:46:53

Matt has once again sailed through the challenge and proved himself. I think George was determined not to be outdone, he had to eat those dishes or be shamed! I just wonder if he could have done that challenge on his own, guess we'll never know.

Voting for Matt every time has really backfired, he is proving himself over and over again. And the others will never get the chance to do a challenge.

The other celebs aren't really getting a chance to shine...its spoiling the show this year with just Matt and George being the whipping boys!

Yes, Birdie, it's getting a bit irritating now in that respect. The production team obviously have some kind of an agenda here.

You mean “Lioness” Jill Scott MBE?
(It’s like referring to Gareth Southgate or David Beckham as “football man” gringrin )

Aveline Sat 12-Nov-22 08:45:36

Moyles and Boy George doing some sort of uncomfortable challenge might 'put their gas at a peep'!
Just voting for Matt to do all the challenges is going to be boring.

I would guess most people gave never heard of her.

MawtheMerrier Sat 12-Nov-22 09:15:09

Ah well. I have no interest in football whatsoever but when England win the World Cup and players are decorated I can take that on board!

Joseanne Sat 12-Nov-22 09:21:51

Jill is quite an old fashioned name for a girl born in 1987.

Zoejory Sat 12-Nov-22 09:26:36

Jill, that's her name. Due to neurological health issues my memory for names is shocking. My memory for many things is shocking to be honest.

However, I should have googled rather than be lazy so apologies to anyone I've offended.

Joseanne Sat 12-Nov-22 09:30:51

Don't worry Zoejory.
At least Hollyoaks boy gets a turn at a trial today.
I like him.

MawtheMerrier Sat 12-Nov-22 09:35:40

My apologies Zoejory -I didn't mean to be insensitive - sorry

If we look at it from the production company's point of view, then they want the best return on their money, so they are going to show more footage of Boy George and Matt Hancock.

Unfortunately, it makes for very boring viewing, not seeing much of the other nine campmates.

For Matt Hancock, I think this has been a "career" masterstroke. I think he knows that his political career is all but over, so he's looking to secure a future for himself. Despite everyone "hating" him when it was announced he was going to be a campmate, he's presenting himself very well and actually coming across as quite a nice bloke. He did a good soft plug for his warts-and-all book that's already written, too.

I find Boy George very dull and uninteresting, and I still maintain that he should never have been there.

I would like to see more of Sue Cleaver (wasn't her story about finding her birth mother amazing) and Owen. Owen, because the only time we've seen him is to show how "dim" he is, and I'm sure there's more to him than that. I really liked the way he spoke about his grandparents when the campmates were given their luxury items, for example.

I wish the public would now stop voting for Matt Hancock to do every trial. He’s dominating every episode and the others are having to take a back seat. He’s loving being the centre of attention and even managed to unashamedly plug his new book last night. It’s turning into the Matt Hancock Show.

maddyone Sat 12-Nov-22 10:05:37

It’s going to be a very boring series if it turns into the Matt Hancock show. I’m impressed by the no nonsense way he has got on with the trials, but I’d like to see some more of the other contestants. I really don’t like Chris Moyles, he’s comical across as an unpleasant person. I like Sue very much and Mike aswell. Owen seems nice and also the two black girls, sorry can’t remember their names. I especially like the younger girl.
Matt Hancock is showing that however much people say they don’t like particular politicians, the reality that they can be very nice people and perfectly ordinary.

That's only because the editors are specifcally selecting all the bits they want viewers to see. Cameras are on the whole group 24/7 in the camp area.

Chestnut Sat 12-Nov-22 10:16:04

It was fascinating to see George laughing and joking with Matt during their trial. They were even gazing into each other's eyes for support as they chomped on the food. I'd love to know how this will affect George's feelings for Matt, will they have a lasting friendship?

Chestnut Sat 12-Nov-22 10:21:20

Maddyone I have never thought Chris Moyles as anything but an unpleasant person, so this is no surprise. There are people accusing him of bullying Owen by pretending to be a champion dancer. I wouldn't go that far, but I'm not keen on that kind of lie because I think we've all been fooled at some time or other, and I don't like people who tell lies as jokes.

Smileless2012 Sat 12-Nov-22 11:00:34

TBF Chris asked Matt if he was going to write a book, which is why he said he'd already written one.

I find Chris unpleasant too Maddyone and Chestnut. I felt he entered into that conversation hoping that the other camp mates would have a go at Matt but it didn't go his way did it. Taking advantage of Owen's naivety isn't a good look either and I hope he's the first one to be voted out.

It's out of his hands if he gets voted for every trial and for the rest of the camp, it isn't necessarily a bad thing as they're all eating well because of his success. He's taking it in good spirits, and if it was anyone's intention for Matt to look even worse than the public perception of him, that doesn't seem to be happening.

He might even winshock.
