I'm a celebrity

I can’t see another thread so apologies if there is
After years of not bothering with “I m a celebrity get me out of here” I decided to have a look as I like Boy George
And I have to say I m in now so will need to keep watching this ridiculously daft programme even if it’s just to combat the depressing days
Anyway what do you all think ?

maddyone Fri 18-Nov-22 10:30:46

Mike Tindall is a complete disappointment. I thought he’d be a good sport and really nice person but he’s not.

Nanatoone

This is my second year watching, though I still think much of it is unwatchable (guts and insects yuck). I have always been so disparaging about it but I’m hooked! I think MH has come over as a very focused individual who is clearly capable of doing what is needed, not surprising in a politician maybe? I detest the way people blame him for the crisis as he, like all of us, was doing what he thought was best, with guidance from medics and those above him. I’m no Tory, but I do not like the early snide comments he received. Chris and BG have showed their true characters, nasty, selfish and unpleasant. I was particularly glad to see CM knocked off his pedestal when he did not bring home the bacon, though sorry for the hungry contestants. Jill is my favourite, followed by Scarlette, truly lovely people, team players and both potential winners, I thought I’d like Mike, but I don’t somehow. Owen is sweet but a bit ineffectual to be a winner in my book. Sean is a nobody, Sue has been shown to be a backstabber, what was that all about with Mike and CM to stage some sort of rebellion? Nothing happened it seems. Charlene is just too much and is incredibly selfish by not taking her place in the RV. We don’t know why that is but it might be that she doesn’t want to be known as the one who slept “with” MH. All in all it’s turned out to be quite fun, but I hate the insects with a passion, ugh.

Yes, I agree with you Nanatoone. I don’t think Matt should be there because he should be at work, but having said that, I find I like him. I’m sick of hearing on television (listening to Jeremy Vine right now and it’s on about this) people whining
complaining about the decisions made by the government collectively with regard to the pandemic. Matt Hancock didn’t go out and personally murder people. Collective decisions were made following advice given by the medics and the scientists. It was a novel virus and no one knew how to deal with it. Decisions were made that in retrospect may have been wrong but I’d defy any of the whiners complainers ( who come across as holier than thou) to do it better. Guess what, every other person in that situation would have made loads of mistakes too. I’m fed up of listening to the other contestants nastiness and last night I thought it particularly abhorrent.

Chestnut Fri 18-Nov-22 10:21:06

That's a good summary Nanatooone. The one who probably deserves to win is Matt, for his all round sportsmanship, team spirit and bravery. He has sailed through some truly terrifying trials and come back with 11 stars. Also no backstabbing, he never says a bad word about anyone. That is probably a political skill! These are the qualities he has displayed in the camp, I'm not talking about the outside world. I can't see him winning because the public won't vote for him.

I suspect Seann, Chris, Charlene and Mike will be early leavers.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 18-Nov-22 09:47:50

I would like to see either Boy George or Chris Moyles leave first as neither come across as team players

OnwardandUpward Fri 18-Nov-22 09:30:08

Yes poor Jill with that cockroach in her ear. I do think they should have mesh bags over their heads with a drawstring at the neck so that nothing can go into their orifices. It's disgusting that it even happened.

Owen might win it. He's a pleasant person and hasn't backstabbed anyone. I think he has everyone's sympathy because he's so hungry, it shows in his face.

Galaxy Fri 18-Nov-22 09:29:39

I think it could be Charlene or Seann, maybe even Mike.

Aveline Fri 18-Nov-22 09:05:07

So who will be first out? Charlene?

Nanatoone Fri 18-Nov-22 08:21:10

Just reading that report on BG and his trial. The defence said that BG was not haughty and bullying. I’m afraid he has shown that he is exactly that.

Galaxy Fri 18-Nov-22 08:21:00

There must be a way to do it without the animals and still retain peoples interest, they could just use heights confined spaces, water etc. One of the most popular trials is the water run thing that the finalists do, no animals involved.

Here is the contemporaneous report about Boy George and Carllson from The Guardian

She was so calm and brave.

MissAdventure Thu 17-Nov-22 23:58:06

Chestnut Thu 17-Nov-22 23:47:42

I do think their 'holes' should be protected. It was horrible for Jill to have that creature in her ear and what if one of those creepy crawlies had bitten or stung one of them inside the ear? That strikes me as possibly dangerous.

Joseanne Thu 17-Nov-22 22:56:18

A few twists tonight as some of them start to crack. Owen sounds starving.
Finally Charlene to do a trial.
Sue didn't really deserve to go to the beach, but she struck lucky. Matt was a good at the barbecue and even served the ladies. Jill is great.
Scarlette was very reassuring to Baba with the frogs and Owen with the snakes, she kept them calm. I like her, Charlene didn't have to be so bossy about how Scarlette cut the cabbage.

maddyone Thu 17-Nov-22 22:35:33

So it’s Charlene and Boy George. Looks like it’ll be a horrid challenge, I would be hopeless doing anything to do with water. I wonder how they’ll do.

Zoejory Thu 17-Nov-22 20:51:33

Boy George and Chris Moyles are just unpleasant people with inflated egos. Can't be doing with them at all.

Callistemon21 Thu 17-Nov-22 20:31:38

Chestnut

BlueBelle So you don’t like anyone who’s not a Matt fan chestnut I don’t think boy George or Chris Moyles have done anything particularly wrong
I just feel those two have a bad attitude. They have been sneery behind his back and obviously resentful of him. They don't like him being camp leader and being so good at the trials, yet he kept them well fed for days.

I'm not keen on either of them, Chestnut and it has nothing to do with their attitudes to others, Matt included.

Maybe BG is just plain thick. He really believes the stuff he spouts and thinks he's right the whole time and has a right to take whatever he wants eg towels. Just limited.

Delusional?

I hope I'm not making a diagnosis online.

Galaxy Thu 17-Nov-22 20:11:28

I think Sue and Chris have been fine.

evilly pleased that was me too HurdyGurdygrin.

HurdyGurdy Thu 17-Nov-22 18:31:08

Apparently Ant was going to "go to the producers" re Charlene not sleeping in the RV, as she may be breaking the rules, as that is where the leader and deputy are meant to sleep. I don't know that for fact, as it's just something I saw being discussed online. Ant and Dec do a live Instagram after the show and it was raised there (I don't use Instagram, so never see it).

Right at the beginning, I had Jill as a potential winner, but actually, I think Owen might win it. He's not complained, been two faced or bitched about anything. It's those that just knuckle down and get on with it, that tend to be favourites with the voting public. And I think he deserves it.

Boy George! Oh my goodness, where to begin with him. I've never liked him, but I now thorough dislike him. I think he's fallen victim to the "if you say something often enough, you believe it's true" mentality in relation to his conviction. It would be interesting to read the Court transcripts, to see what was actually said in Court and what evidence was produced.

I was evilly pleased to see Chris Moyles struggling with his solo trial. I think he is a deeply unpleasant person, and it certainly wiped off the smirk and open glee when Matt Hancock was being voted for each task. I think he was disappointed that Hancock kept bringing back the stars, as he wanted him to fail.

And Sue Cleaver! My goodness she's not being shown in a very good light, is she - although I always keep reminding myself "it's all in the edit". The producers can take a snippet of conversation and splice it with another, to result in the words coming across in a completely different tone. But I'm not liking her as much as I did. I still think the story of finding her birth mother is just astonishing though.
